That is the most awesome post about Poirot I have ever seen.
Hehehehe. Papa Poirot. I never knew that before!
If anyone's chasing the Telescope stick, you can purchase it from these guys:

The swan cane as carried by Poirot is probably his most well-known accessory. Not sure where you can buy one, but I'm sure if you looked on the internet and typed in "Poirot Swan Walking Stick", you'd find one eventually.
Personally, I reckon the telescope cane is more awesome.

AUSTRALIAN survivors of the fall of Singapore 70 years ago have defended the behaviour of more than 20,000 Australian troops on the island, many of whom deserted.

Bought a pair of neat, chain-bar vintage cufflinks on Sunday for just $15. Marked on the back: "9ct FRONT".
I expect that means that the main part of the cufflink is 9ct gold while the rest of it is just standard brass. That's fine by me. They still look grand.
They're square, with neat...

Sing along, folks. "From Here to Shanghai" (1917). Irving Berlin.
I've often wandered down,
Through dreamy Chinatown,
The home of ching-a-ling,
It's fine, I must declare,
But now I'm going where,
I can see the real, real thing!
I'll soon be there...
Buy a pen-case or a pen-cabinet/chest. And just put them in there, lying down in neat little rows.
But then, you need to buy MORE pens to fill in the gaps...
But you'll buy too many pens.
So that means you have some leftover.
So you need another box. But then you need MORE pens to fill in...
It's this throwaway society that we live in these days. Nothing is deliberately manufactured to last, so as a result, when it breaks, there's nobody to fix it, because they're not meant to be fixed.
As the Old Man on Pawnstars once said:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it is broke, it...
It sounds like a larder.
There's a difference between the two.
The pantry is where you store drygoods. Bread, flour and so forth (from the Latin 'Pannus' - Bread).
The larder is where you stored stuff that had to be kept cool. Meat. Butter. Cream. Milk. Leftover food from last night's...
I went to the Camden Market when last I was in London. It's an interesting place, although for clothes...I'm not sure. Not that there isn't lots of stuff to see there.
If you're shaving with a D.E. safety-razor, I strongly suggest watching Mantic59's YouTube videos.
He doesn't know much about straight-razors (he doesn't use them), but he is an indispensable source of advice and information for shaving successfully with a double-edge razor.
There's also www.straightrazorplace.com
They're the two most respected shaving forums that you can find.
On YouTube, look for Mantic59 and GeoFatBoy. I learnt everything I know about shaving (apart from how to use a straight razor), from Mantic.
I learnt how to use a straight-razor purely...
It seems to me, at least, that "Frigidaire", in the United States, at least, has attained a sort of genericised trademark level.
For example - Esky (coldbox), Band-Aid (pre-prepared bandage), Jello (gelatine) and so-forth. To the same way of thinking, it's now a frigidaire, not a 'fridge' or a...
I shave the night before, if I know I'm gonna be in a hurry the next day. Of course, my beard doesn't grow that fast (on average, I only shave about three times a week, probably). If your beard is a slow-grower, perhaps you should shave in the evenings before bed (provided you're not so dozey...
