Just some observations:
Since reading through this thread i feel like there is a difference in definition of “vintage” hats as well as significant generalizations of i’ll say, apples and oranges, in discussing hat shrinkage experiences.
It seems the OP indeed has vast experiences with Akubra...
I agree with your assessment completely, Tony.
Your images demonstrate perfectly the vintage half belt conundrum.
I’ve noticed here over the years here that it seems the taller one is the less apt to find that “good look” in vintage half belts. Shorter people tend to have better luck then taller...
Sorry to disagree….but i have to strongly caution AGAINST this advise for ANY hat!
For feathers yes. I have drenched many a racing pigeon in a Permethrin solution to kill lice/mites etc. However Permethrin concentrate is OILY and in no way would i spray any hat with it.
For feathers it’s def a...
I know that “Look” Bob.
I’ve bought several hats deformed in pics that turned out to be outstanding in every way for very little $.
A black Boss Raw Edge Fray, a Vita-Felt Strat and oddly enough a Stetson Premier Panama.
Would have cost a fortune if steamed and brushed. Love those “smashing”...
You have 9 posts total on the lounge.
The total being in this thread for this shop.
After 9 posts in the last 24 hrs heralding this maker i think we all get it!!
You like this vendor.
Thank you.
But enough is enough!
Hilarious Fruno!!
I love Dad jokes and Boomer jokes/references especially and particularly if told by the enlightened younger single folks.
Because….Dads and Boomers been around long enough and through enough to sit back and chuckle knowing how sweet it would be just to reply “get back to me...
A tribute to Van or our @HoosierDaddy near 6 months since his passing.
I’ve meant to write this for a while. Now seems the right moment.
HD was a lot of things to a lot of people. We loungers here, knew him of his lounge presence. Sometimes taken as somewhat harsh and of a solid opinion on many...
Get these.
Soak in Woolite, cold water, gently agitate by hand, rinse the dry on stretchers.
People have been hand washing delicate fabrics using Woolite since 1951. No sense in trying to reinvent the wheel.

Marc, another great jacket as usual.
That letter looks like one that comes after a Draft notice. Date appears to be shortly after the Korean war. Can’t imagine why anyone would keep that letter in their pocket. At least not anything good that became of it.
Just an observation.

The French seams with contrasting stitching throughout are just magic.
This model in particular has symmetry that highlights the beauty of French seams like no other.
Truly a pinnacle jacket and work of art at every level!!

I saw your new user name and knew immediately it was you by your pic. I could recall your first name but not last. Just figured you forgot your pass word.
It happens and in life s**t happens!
Been a bunch of that.
Welcome back @formerlyknownasNF.
Glad you’re here and the Peter’s Bro is still...
Those poor girls!!
I wouldn’t wish getting Max a hat on them. They’d have to conjure up J.B. Stetson or old man MacLachlan to hand build one in Graham’s Optimo shop then get Fabergé to build a case.
Or just get him a goofy golf hat with a green visor. Lol
Happy Father’s Day fellas.

This is about the best deal you’re gonna find on an outstanding Cal. It’s one of their good ones.
The first pic tells the story.
The rest are just candy.
Just sayin….
