Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

And to top it off...... I ask him to not use my photos.....then an hour later he wants to return the item and tells me that I made a mistake measuring the hat because he measured 1/16 of an inch bigger than I did. (which is a total lie) In the auction I said no returns, and he starts something...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Ya know, I don't care when people resell a hat I sold them. But if they are going to relist it on ebay, at least take your own pictures and use your own language in the description. This seller literally used my photos and descriptions. The same ones I took time to take and upload and the same...

    Pre 1940s dress hats

Great photo! Its interesting that the children's hats had those very short crowns. The brim length seems to be a pretty standard length for the time.

    Pre 1940s dress hats

Thanks, Steve! Soft hats from this point in history very rarely turn up, so I was excited to get it. Its also neat that its survived all these years being that its a child's hat.

For Sale - 1940's DUNLAP "THE TRAVELER" Fedora SIZE 7 1/8

Its definitely on the smaller side of 7 1/8. Being that its an unreeded sweatband, you would not want to stretch this one.

    Dunlap Drive-In

1940's Dunlap "The Traveler" I took a chance on this one. Its a size larger than I wear, and its a bit too big on me. This one will be going up for sale, but I wanted to document it here first. This is SUPER lightweight. This hat is the exact same hat as the early 1940's Dobbs Cross Country...

This is just fantastic info!! Thanks, Steve!!! I will be very interested to hear what info you get from Bean. Also, your friend engraved the portrait on the $5 bill?? That is beyond cool. The Bowler or Derby Hat

Really glad you got this one. I had my eye on it, and just totally forgot about the auction. The square crown tall derbies are super rare. I love the 3/4 rear ribbon with the center buckle bow. That was a very classic style that I have seen in some adds from the 1880's/1890's.

    Post New Hats Here!

Moon, That really is a gorgeous modern felt. The finish looks super buttery and very uniform in color. The pouncing looks much nicer than other modern Stetsons I have seen. VERY nice!!

    German & Austrian Hutmachers

Wow, I would love to sit down and talk with that Gentlemen. That super detailed printing is exactly what I was looking for. I would have so many questions. From the video, he mentioned that 2000 pounds of pressure push that paper into the detailed lines on the printing block. So in...

FANTASTIC info, Steve!! Thank you so much. Was there ever any mention if heat was used while pressing these liners, or if they were simply "stamped" cold?
