Isshi agrees with you and he is the Shoemeister on that subject. I had not thought how Art Deco they are with those arrows/chevron detailing it really confirms they are 40s at latest.
I got this on Aussie eBay back in 2013 from memory because I could not resist it. This is not my size but a size 55 EUR/USA 6 7/8 Montecristi quality Optimo style straw.

I can remember encountering this style of fabric in India when I worked in the airlines 1978-94. I remember buying slubby raw silks and having them made up in BKK.
I have the Woodlores and I love that you can widen them to allow for an "E" fitting USA or "F" or D" UK. I find they go well on vintage shoes and fill up the inside void well. Plus you can get them cheap sometimes at Costco. A mate brought me 5 pairs once...
