    The story of a pilot

Just got hold of a second hand copy of Eric Kennington: "Drawing the RAF" from 1942. It is a stunning series of pilot portraits drawn in 1940. Among them is one of Albert G. Lewis. It only puzzels me, that he is listed under BomberCommand instead of FighterCommand. Probably the editors...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

Stevie - I think it's just a part of the "Irvin Charm" Since there is no "lock" on the zippers - like on moderne day zippers (for trousers etc.) - it just happens, especially if the wrist is tight, when zipped. That's just me guessing.

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

Got to tell you this... Driving to Haderslev today - it's in Jutland - I went into a cafeteria on the way for a cup of coffe. I was wearing my Aero Irvin, when an old gentleman sitting at the next table approached me. "Isn't that a RAF Irvin jacket?" I said yes, and he went on praising the...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

Welcome Stevie J - and congrats with the stunning result. My guesse is it's a circa 1942 model. Others - Andrew - may tell you if it's a Irvin production. Regarding the different patches and repairs - I would leave them as they are - it's part of this special jackets special history. (If...

When does it become a costume?

It becomes a costume, when you can not walk down the street without repeating that excuse you are practising in your head, as to why you look like that.

Disney Will Make Over Mickey. Why? To Make Us Like Him.

:offtopic: Come to think of it - Mickey Mouse never became a hit in Denmark. Donald Duck is the big name here. The Walt Disney cartoon magazine - started here in the 50's - is called Anders And ( = Donald Duck) and not Mickey Mouse. Guesse it's because the character of Donald Duck is so much...

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

If you go to "Classified", I have a post there selling two Irvins - one of them is from Aviation Leathercraft (ALC) You can compare the photo there with the photos of ELC and Aero in this thread. The jacket is absolutely a great quality, a bit heavy - but the zipper, the fur and the outercolor...

    The story of a pilot

That's the one, Speedster. Also found him on another site once, where he was looking for information on Albert G Lewis. Mailed him and told him about my interest in his grandfathers service during WWII - asked if we could exchange informations etc. Never heard from him though [huh]

When does it become a costume?

The first one: Could easily be me on one of those days, where you know you are not supposed to go on stage to collect an award at the Anual Advertising Awardshow in Denmark :D The last one - I love it. No costume to me. Just sheer delight and beauty. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
