    Pre-1930s neckties

Baron, every tie i have - that might be 20s - has some sort of bias seam on the rear. which puts their '20s' date in doubt.

    Pre-1930s neckties

i must admit, i find ties from the teens all the way through to the early 30s very difficult to date accurately, because styles changed so little. i bought a batch of deadstock French ties last year, some of which have a selvedge lower edge, e.g: ...they could be anywhere in the teens -...

Gentlemen, show us what you've made!

Nick, i'd go for cotton sateen which has a dull sheen rather than the high gloss of a typical jacket lining:

    Palm Beach Neckties

yes, but they're 'faked' slubs rather than the ones that occur naturally in linen. it had only been listed about four hours (this afternoon) B-I-N. ;)

    Birth of the Beltback: 1910s

the 'Clothier and Furnisher' was a trade journal, and if these were shown at style shows do you think many of these designs never made it to production and remained, what we would call today, samples ?

    Birth of the Beltback: 1910s

so much to think about in these designs. are these all Stein-Bloch ? some of them look similar to the 'Clothier and Furnisher' illustrations you posted a while ago.

    Birth of the Beltback: 1910s

great ! lots of high gorges there for people who think the high gorge is a modern invention. i don't think many of these styles will appeal to most on here, but they really go to show what a period of experimentation the teens were.

    Who is your style inspiration?
