Oh wow, good thread. I've ordered a custom Aero Maxwell as well. I'm not too worried about fit because Thurston's sending a fit jacket. My Main concern is color. It seems to be really damn hard to capture leather's color in photos.
1. Sent in my payment for a custom Aero Maxwell through Thurston Bros. Think I'm going with Seal Vicenza. Gonna be a long time before that comes in.
2. Bought a cheap Aero Highwayman through a japanese auction. It's steerhide and a light color though so I bought it more to see if the Aero SZ 40...
I've talked to Greg and he mentioned that he's getting a button hole machine in a month or so and can take orders involving traditional buttons from now on.
Is it just me, or are the pockets on the cossack jacket ridiculousy high up? I've thought about buying one in russet goat but the pockets look really inconveniently placed.
Any owners care to comment?
I have a Lucky Brand cowhide jacket that also squeaks. It looks and smells like a basketball or football and fits horribly (even after spending $150 to get it altered). But to its credit, that sparked my whole interest in quality leather jackets. Lol.
Anyone know a jacket similar to what Robert DeNiro wears in The Irishman?
Much like Aero's 5-pocket "Hercules" but with mismatched pockets for some reason. Love the blue-collar functional vibe and I'm massive DeNiro/mob movie fan.
This also got me thinking about the authenticity of the Aero...
Found a good deal on EBay for a Rainbow Country jacket, then for some reason the seller canceled. So I'm asking if Greg can do a Michigan in seal shinki for me.
IIRC even Himel's shinki is semi-aniline so I'm not sure there's much difference, especially after some wear.
This has been a really interesting thread, thanks especially for the tips on Field Leather and Blattwerk.
I just ordered a Rainbow Country Single Rider I found randomly on EBay. Dude said he's shipping it Monday, can't wait til it gets in. I don't particularly care if the leather's Shinki or...
Hey bros thanks for all the replies. I’ll respond more specifically to them after I’ve had my coffee.
But I was specifically looking for veg-tanned because I read the environmental consequences of chromium dye are pretty nasty. I know that American producers like Taylor Stitch and Horween are...
Hi friends, I've been lurking a while (first-time poster) and want to pull the trigger on a Kelso Wingman (seal color) or Himel Imperial. I'm wondering what kind of turnaround time I should expect from Kelso or Himel.
I'd actually prefer the Wingman, but it seems like Himel has consistently...
