Belt and epaulets removed- who can put them back?

J, Congrats on your cool jacket! I can see that the next time someone asks me to take off their belt and epaulets that I should keep them! To make new ones for you, I rather doubt I could match the leather in your jacket, or the buckle. Wish I had a better answer! Dena

    Jacket Restoration & Leather Patina

Many beloved jackets that have served one faithfully for many years, look like the first two pics. When sent in for repairs, I frequently hear "I want to keep the patina so don't put anything on it." But, when the top layer of the skin is worn away it deteriorates rather quickly. A jacket in...

    Some jackets can be altered

This jacket had blousy sleeves and I took 2 inches out of the cuff circumference tapering up to a few inches from the sleeve hole. Then I closed the side pockets and added two to the front.

    Busted Block Bilt-A Restoration perspective

Terry, Thanks for understanding. This is indeed the beginning of my busy season! Also, I use to have three ladies to help me. But one retired after 17yr with me, one didn't come back after surgery, and my other lady can only work a few hours without losing her unemployment. Which neither of us...

What will black leather look like when distressed and worn in?

I should add that if you keep moisture in it it holds it's color much longer. I like Tenderly for straight moisture, matte finish, and Urad for a little waxy look. (You can buy them both on my website.) https://greatleather.com/

What will black leather look like when distressed and worn in?

Having redyed a lot of black leather jackets (at Leather Care Specialists) I have seen black turn not only grey and brown, but greenish and blueish. Lamb tends to change colors more so than cow, horse, goat, or sheep. I can't tell you why the color change. I'm guessing it has to do with the...

    Adding zippers to sleeves

I love hearing that! It's very fun to hear some history. This jacket was my very favorite leather. It was obvious that it was tanned in the USA back when we had lots of tanneries. You just don't see it anymore. Looks like Aero's horsehide BUT way softer and much more pliable. Felt great! I was...

    Adding zippers to sleeves

I got the lining in today. Here's the only label that was in it. I don't recognize it but the leather is my favorite! Heavy but very soft and pliable. Just like in the old days! fyi- the customer sent the fabric he wanted in it.

    Adding zippers to sleeves

I'm still learning how FL works. I thought I just replied but I don't see it. I don't want to miss replying where I should. My reply (which may show up twice now I'm not sure) was that I can post a photo of the jacket label, etc. when I check in tomorrow. I also want to thank you for the input:)...
