@Jin431 we arrived back home a week or so right before a pandemic was declared and flights started to get canceled globally. The wall went up so we were lucky.
Stick a needle in my arm. I'm ready.
Earlier in this thread I mentioned I was ill before I left and am now certain it was Covid-19 that I had. Every symptom matched and I still can't smell anything really. Sense of smell is maybe half what it used to be, if that. My joints ached for months...
I did not try that although fermented things like that don't bother me. Robbie's scrambled egg reference threw me off. I also really liked fermented/pickled red mustard leaves called takana on rice. Next time I'm bringing back more than a few packs since I can't buy it where I live.
Wife is a teacher and her break is February and I am back in university full time after a 20 year absence and I get a break then too. We are only able to go then since I take spring and summer classes now also.
I did not try that. I was focused on ramen, soba and gyoza.
I am not really an egg fan and there is egg in everything it seems. I was constantly saying "tomago no".
We are planning Tokyo next then back to Kyoto since we were just there for a day trip and need to see more. I think 4 days in Tokyo and 4 in Kyoto with a day trip or two thrown in. I would go back to Osaka for a day trip as well since I really liked it there.
Hopefully next year in February...
More tourist stuff. Osaka Castle which is huge. The blocks in the walls are as big as a Honda Civic.
Buddhist Temple on our way to Jelado so I can buy a jacket.
I was looking through some photos from this trip and figured I'd post some touristy shots. I'm bored and can't travel back to Japan this year like I planned so this will have to do.
First few minutes in Osaka. Until this time the largest city I had been to is Toronto. The look on my face says...
You pay VAT and any other import fees your country charges. Thurston Bros has no authority to determine who pays import tax or not. Only way you save is if they declare the jacket and a lesser value which they won't so you will be at the mercy of your government and its import fees.
Fits and hangs fine. Creases ease a bit. It is still a bit stiff in the waist area but is starting to loosen there. I don't have a pic of me wearing it open.
I really love the jacket. Bought it on a whim off Yahoo Auctions/Buyee and it turned into a favourite while custom made to order jackets...
Freewheelers Dust Bowl. This one has a couple vertical creases by the neck that is from what I think is from the design of the wool band collar. Arm holes are slightly pitched forward also. It immediately creased like that when I put it on for the first time and on the hanger as well. Just a...
@Boyo it is almost worth it to get a Thedi with buttons just so you can see how masterful they are at making button holes and sewing on buttons. Thedi by far does the best and strongest version of buttons than any other maker I have experienced and that includes my Freewheelers. Thedi really...
