family members on the "wrong" side

My father has written down his story of the war for my two sons (and me) I translated some of the more important details and posted them here some time ago. If any of you are interested in a part of WWII one seldom hear about. The war in the occupied countries, you can read it here...

family members on the "wrong" side

I am with you on the intersting family histories, Phantomfixer. Here's one from Denmark: My father was a young man - from a ordinary, conservative family - when the Nazis occupied Denmark. A lot of danes (civil as well as armypersonnel) had signed up to help Finland against the Soviet...

The only difference between a "accurate repro" and a "real one" is the last one has been flying. The first one has not.;)

God påske - happy easter! Allthough not the most religious country of them all, we danes really understand to get the full benefit of easter. Thursday, friday, sunday and monday are all holidays. Saturday - of course - is a holiday allready. (Warning: Don't visit Denmark during easter -...

    The story of a pilot

I have some more information from Lewis on the last day in France from the book: Twelve days in may. I tried to edit them into the origianl story at the top, but it was impossible. So here it is: Monday 20 May, 1940 Lewis flew back to England in one of the only 3 Hurricanes still usable from...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

Well - it could be: April 1955. But then on the other hand, if "Str" stands for size, it's kind of strange. Size: April, 1955. ???:eusa_doh: Size 4 could be a internal/military sizesystem - but then 55 sounds strange, since all sizes in Denmark follow the european system: -40-42-44-46-48...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

Second picture. It looks like it says Str. If that is right it might be of danish/scandinavian origin. Str. is short for Størrelse (Size). Might be a clue - but what it's been doing in france is still a puzzel.
