    I am not sure about care instructions. It is made out of cotton & when I recieve it I had to do the waterproofing. I have worn it in a couple of rain storms & it seemed to hold up fine to moderate rain. I have ot had the chance to try it out in a frog strangling rain storm yet.

    What you might also be able to do is get a length of ribbon about 7/8 to 1 inch wide & use that to make your own bow tie.
