For me, maybe it's the whole cowboy look. Mind you, I don't own a cowboy hat or a huge belt buckle, but I guess it's just that cowboys wear button-down shirts as part of their outfit. Or maybe it's just that none of my boots (the true cowboy ones, mind you, not the pull-on work boots) look TRULY...
Something I've never brought up before . . .
Of course, the issue of what type of pants to wear with cowboy boots has probably been beaten to death in some circles, but I'm sure we'd all agree that they should only be worn with jeans (regular fit or boot-cut), khakis, perhaps suits (if you're...
Today's outfit:
LL Bean/Levi's 505/Wrangler (belt)/Red Wing Heritage 8146
Not shown are North Face (gray and black fleece pullover) and SmartWool (thick gray hiking socks).
Perhaps not very reminiscent of the "golden years" (whatever those may be), but . . .
J. Press University Stripe OCBD
Levi's 505 jeans
Wrangler belt
Georgia Boot work socks
8" Bean Boots
You're so right! I'm normally not a fan of shiny boots, as they always seem to look more appropriate with suits rather than jeans. For me, that was especially true with black boots; most types of black leather always seemed too shiny for my taste. However, I had always noticed that for some...
I was doing a search of previous posts of mine and realized that I never posted about this, so here goes . . .
In March I bought a pair of black Lucchese Classics full-quill ostrich. Since having to sell my previous black boots (Lucchese Classics in black ranch hand) because I got the wrong...
I was just thinking . . . is it just me, or does anyone else here feel that once you've owned a pair of higher-end-brand boots (e.g. Lucchese) it just wouldn't be right to go back to more conventional brands like Justin, Tony Lama, etc.?
Excuse my ignorance, but I'm afraid I've never used insoles of any kind before (unless perhaps they were already in the shoe/boot). If an insole goes in the bottom of the shoe/boot, but the width has to do with the sides, then I don't understand how that can compensate for the excess width. Does...
I stumbled across a cool pair of cowboy boots on eBay for a GREAT deal -- a pair of Lucchese Classics full quill ostrich ropers. They were my size too . . . well, almost. Whereas I wear regular width shoes/boots (D), these boots were 2E. With boots, is it possible to compensate at all for extra...
Update:
I ended up selling the tan mad dog Lucchese 1883s whose picture I posted earlier in this thread. Why? Because I discovered something I liked even better, namely, Lucchese 1883 tan ranch hands, so I bought a pair of 'em:
Unfortunately, the tan mad dogs never did look as appealing...
Ishmael,
I don't know if you'd have access to Justin boots in Japan, but would this style be along the lines of what you're looking for?
