Flo, yes, there's always the danger with this sort of jacket that it will end up looking like a 1970s cord safari jacket, which the RL one has fallen into. as well as trying to stick closely to the original, i also plan on wearing it with a heavy 20s style; flat cap, bow tie, balmoral boots, to...

Rudie, i think you're more concerned with the practicality of this suit than i am. my initial response on seeing the catalogue image (Charles Williams, Fall Winter 1920-21) was along the lines of "wow, i want one of those !"

then it wouldn't be a corduroy suit. it would be a leather jacket. :eusa_doh:

Introducing my British Cinema blog ...

TT, i was trying to find a quote you mentioned recently; about a certain actress who was always called for if the script mentioned 'appears in cami knickers'. who was the actress ? edit: i just found it on your blog; Jean Kent.

Rudie, i assume it's a way to add more warmth to a jacket while keeping the slippery feel of a standard rayon lining. i don't think wool fleece / blanket would be suitable for a more tailored jacket as it would ruck against clothing underneath, and also add too much bulk. anyway, i'll be able...

wow, that's almost a separate jacket inside-out as lining. the leather i'm using for the body of the cord suit is much thinner. thanks for the photos !

of course !... leather body lining, not sleeves. p.s. i put a request out earlier in the year for anyone who had seen one of these suits in person to come forth: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?69703-1920s-suits&p=1600317&viewfull=1#post1600317 ...no one did, so i'm assuming...

Flo, yes... all details as the suit above, only difference with jacket is that i'm doing pockets with a pleat. same fabric trousers but with brace buttons rather than belt loops.

that Palatine is great. i'm surprised by the plastic label cover though, which looks like something which would have been done later ?

    Any Magazines Still Out There?

the only 'vintage' themed magazines i've bought are Men's File and Free and Easy. Men's File is mainly clothing focussed, with some features on bikes or cars, but you won't find much on bands / music or nights out etc. it's heavily photo-shoot orientated. Free and Easy is Japanese which makes...
