Guttersnipe, i would always recommend heavier -18oz- over lighter for a better drape, but their prices are eye watering. i would order a swatch and see if you're swayed by it.
here's the page:

the photo makes it look a bit harder and shiny that it actually is.
Fox have also added this 18 oz classic navy serge to their range:
i have a swatch. it has a very slight two tone effect; the ridges appearing lighter than the spaces between.
it's nice, but i'm still unconvinced if serge is interesting enough to warrant making a suit from.
this one just sold on ebay very cheaply, though it was slightly damaged:
similar to the famous despatch rider style, with angled map pocket. looks like pvc with a mock leather texture.
there's a very similar one in the Free & Easy '30s-40s' catalogue made by Levis. they call it 40s but the buttons suggest 30s. no shots of the back though.
TT, when the right 20s suit comes along i'll pay more than £446 for it - if i have to.
£446 is pretty high for a CC41 suit with a wonky lapel and moth damage. it might be the highest i've seen so far for a demob or CC41 suit.
Damian, nice shoulders on that jacket. they look like they might be spalla camicia style (see vintage tailoring thread, page 8).
nice jacket Dinerman, did you find the whole suit by any chance ?
BK, i'm not suggesting it's 20s... just wondering if anyone else has seen this centre strap / pleat on a 30s jacket. i bet Eddie Schave has.
(i'm pretty sure it's non-functional... if it opened it would open toward the body, and would be a bugger to close again).
BK, i mean it resembles the pseudo - Norfolk straps which stop at the belt seen on many 20s jackets.
purely decorative. i've never seen one on a 30s jacket before.
