I would try to take them to a jewelry specialist. They can probally clean them easier & safer than you can. They have all the special equipment & cleaners needed to do the job.

To be honest, Lizzie, I don't think wnayone of any age like being told what to do. Nobody wants to pay taxes. No body wants to have to go do something to earn money. But we have to if we want to become a part of society. It is all part of growing up.
the first thing I would do is treat the leather with something like Lexol or a pecards like substance. You might need to put two or three coats on to get enough to penetrate it. That right there might be enough to loosen it up.
