"I scanned it, so now I own the copyright"?...

I am sure they have - but I still find it very stupid to use a picture of a known and specific person, if that person has nothing what so ever to do with the book. (I know it's another discussion. Sorry)

"I scanned it, so now I own the copyright"?...

Not to sidetrack this very interesting discussion, but I also find it very strange when a designer chooses a picture for a cover for a book - and the picture has nothing and no relation to the book what so ever. In this example the top picture shows Pilotofficer Albert G Lewis (A person I happen...

    Classic Pilot Watch

You should try to hunt down an original RAF Omega - but they are quite expensive too. If you are into the big pilotwatches, and only Luftwaffe used the big ones - A11's and Omegas are nothing more than Ø35mm - take a look at Stowa (www.stowa.de) they are re-producing their B-uhren at a very...

Looking Forward to 2011? Vintage Aspirations for next year?

Next year I will expand my one man ad-agency into a real one with five to six young talented creatives working together with me. I will read even more books on The Battle of Britain and go to even more Air Shows at Duxford. I will find the original Irvin in my size - I hope! It will be a...

Please forgive the movie trivia question

Can't even remember any battlefield sequence from Tommy. From The Wall / Pink Floyd yes - but not from Tommy. If you could post some pics it would surely help.

    Our own vintage town

That's where I want to be. Throw in a cricket field , a nice pub and a grass airstrip for single engined planes and I am all for it.

    Break Out the Board Games!

We like playing BEZZERWIZZER - a game developed by some danes, and much, much more fun and more tactical than Trivial Pursuit. Stratego ( Called Attack in the good old days)is also popular. And when my son and some of his friends are in the house, it's Axis and Allies.

    White RAF Roll Neck Sweaters

If you are asking me, I am no expert on UK/US sizes - why don't you ask Ace Cafe directly, they should know. :)

    What are you wearing today??

What I am wearing today? As much as possible - indoors! The heating system went last night - the same night that was the coldest yet this winter!!! So I am trying to work (type) in RN sweater, Irvin jacket - and wollen gloves. Not pretty - but effective.

What was that first jacket that started it all?

This is fun! My first "US Fighterpilot" jacket was very similar to the one you had, eClairvaux - also bought in Paris in a shop near Les Halles in 1979. I knew about Avirex/Cockpit A2 and man did I want one!!! But they were in USA and I was here - so I went for the lookalike. (Little did we...

    Fishermen's sweaters site

Dav, looks like a great sweater - but isn't it the other way 'round: 90% bottle green and 10% charcoal? Not that it matters - just wondering ;)
