Men's File -A Modern Magazine Tracing the Roots of Style

Clutch appears to be a vintage motorbike magazine. the two magazines in one seems to be the only way they could continue economically or something. same here FFF; i'm very unlikely to spend £20-£25 on a magazine unless it's packed with very specific-to-my-interests articles.

that DB jacket might be French. the scalloped pocket top would be unusual on British workwear.

    Suits - Pre 1920

1914. the shirt collars look rather stiff and overly formal. the bowler hats and canes would look anachronistic today. but really, very little about the suit has changed in a hundred years. ...quite a variety of styles in one photo.

    1920s suits

this is basically the transitional period between the Victorian 'sack' jacket and the more suppressed-waist 1920s jacket. by the late teens most of the 'fashion forward' companies would have been going for the trimmer waist with front darts, but there still would have been plenty of...

Vintage Suitings: Discussions of, and sourcing modern equivalents, etc.

i believe Barmey is also about to make a suit from the 2080 solid mid-grey Harrisons flannel. that particular ebay UK seller has no more of the solid grey left. as for quality flannel suppliers, other than Fox, i'm currently drawing a blank.

    Jeeves and Wooster

i'm currently going through a box set of this series, never having seen it on TV before. although there are some amusing turns of phrase and one-liners, i have to admit that i find the plots groan-inducing. will stick with it for screen grabs of the costumes.

Modern retro Norfolk-esque blazer $5 BIN

i saw the above jacket (or one very similar) at RRL London and it was about £750, so it's quite a saving, if you can call it that. ;) it was very lightweight; a spring - summer jacket. the sleeve lining alone is impressively well reproduced, though it looks more like something you'd find in...
