    1920s suits

these are the two narrowest shoulder jackets i've made: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/herringbonekid/Laurence%20John%20Clothes/_1010371.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/herringbonekid/linen_suit_01.jpg (they look extra narrow on the dummy since there's no wadding - or...

    1920s suits

not really... i can wear a 17.5" shoulder mid 30s jacket or a 16" early 20s narrow shoulder. both 'fit' in their different ways. just depends what style you're going for. p.s. the angle of armhole isn't the only difference between the shoulders mentioned on the last page of course. the 30s...

    1920s suits

Rudie, some early 20s suits had a very narrow shoulder seam to shoulder seam measurement, meaning that your shoulder fills out the sleevehead like this: later suits, have a much wider shoulder seam to shoulder seam measurement. e.g...

Study Finds Owning Cool Leather Jacket More Rewarding Than Raising Children

"...adding that it was on average 63 percent more gratifying to regularly condition a leather jacket that had awesome vertical zippers on the sleeves than it was to read nightly bedtime stories to a son or daughter." lol

    1920s suits

^ looks circa 1923 with the height of the buttons / long front cutaway. the shoulders would be narrow if it was from that date so 16" sounds correct.

    Return of the high waist?

on a positive note, there were no reports of Joaquin Phoenix complaining about the clothes he wore in 'The Master' which was set in the late 40s.

    Return of the high waist?

East Ham ? you're a braver man than i Baron. thankfully the betting shop denizens of St. Leonard's seem rather oblivious to matters sartorial.

Tumblr blogs for vintage inspiration and images.

that one i posted above has disappeared (actually it seems to have been mysteriously replaced by a new owner). it was good, honest. here's another oft-quoted vintage themed tumblr: http://giantpantsofthe30s.tumblr.com/

    Return of the high waist?

Metatron, i agree it's surprising. there's nearly always some small designer label or other offering high waisted trousers (e.g. Joe Casely Hayford, Herr Von Eden) but they never seem to influence the mainstream.

1936 Bespoke Burberrys Equestrian Horse Riding Jacket

^ seller calls it a 'saddle guard'... what would it be guarding the saddle from ? to me it looks like a draught excluder for when the vents are open when seated in the saddle.

    Return of the high waist?

sorry to be a doom monger, but i wouldn't expect the trousers inspired by that film to be a hit with FL members, especially as most FL members want wide legged high waisted trousers. there are numerous things to get right in making a pair of good looking, 20s-50s style trousers and the high...
