    Hat advice please!

The hat looks great; I'd suggest seeing how it looks a little farther down on your forhead. It's simple and classy. Wear it!

    Who Loves Linen?

This is the jacket I'm wearing today. It's 53% rayon, 42% linen and 5% metallic. The fabric is purposely a little rumpled (as in texture, not slept-in). It feels great on!

I love linen! Some of it resists wrinkles better than others. [huh]

What Songs Have Your Name in Them?

"...my buddies Six, Nick and Tom..." (or something like that) from "Smokin' in the Boys Room" by Motley Crue. Just what you were looking for, I'm sure. :D There's also "Tom Dooley," a song about a murderer.

AFI's latest top ten list - classic genres

I wonder about some of the categories themselves. Why do sports and gangsters need their own categories? And Cat Ballou instead of The Magnificent Seven? [huh]

Listen to R&B Jukebox online on Saturday night, 7-9, mountain time. Enjoy! The DJ not only plays music, but also tells something about the music. You might also like this thread for old R&B: http://thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=16897

vintge items on your computer desk

I have a card from my employer on my desk. It shows two women, c. 1955, saying, "Don't tell me they've been trying to write their own letters again." "Looks like it. Listen to this one, 'To Warm It Mane Consern...'"

Question about the late 1960s-mid 1970s

My dad continued wearing jeans and western shirts, the style he grew up in and went to work in, but my mom was happy to wear polyester clothes that didn't need to be ironed.

    Is lipstick out?

I've always been very prone to chapped lips and live in a dry climate. By "chapped," I mean cracked and bleeding. I've tried other lip balms, but Carmex is the only one that works for me. I've never heard that salicylic acid is a drying agent.

    Weather and Vintage Attire Woes

First, far fewer people lived in the southwest then; maybe most of the summer pictures were taken in the north. Second, buildings had operating windows, and humans can tolerate hot fresh air better than hot stale air. Maybe they just acclimated to the heat.

what color/pattern best denotes "successful" businessman?

Probably dark gray. Of course, it also depends on your business. They won't expect an artist or a tradesman to dress like them.

    Pale or Tan?

Another factor that made sunbathing popular and supposedly "healthy" was that TB patients used to come West and sit in the sun at hospitals. Apparently, the warm, dry air was therapeutic for them.

Guards at Empire State Building given classic look

I meant that I liked the uniforms and thought they suited the job and the place. After all, it's a building, not a missile silo. :)

Guards at Empire State Building given classic look

The guards' job is public safety. Their appearance should make them easily identified as guards, and look like they should be taken seriously. Polos and khakis don't fit the bill.
