Very nice, Lloyd. Having grown up in So. Cal myself I remember well those cold Winter mornings! Looks like there are still fresh dew drops on that bench.
Thanks, RBH. Wish it was warm enough here to wear something like your beautiful straw Whippet, but instead we are getting another foot of the white stuff :smow:
Wow, thank you billyspew, what a small world! Mickey's AND a Whippet, too! Perhaps not so unusual back in the day, but a rarity...
Wore my Bluegrass Stetson Whippet all weekend.
Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis. Just prior to the Minnesota Orchestra's magnificent concert last night. The Brahms 4th was sublime.
A late-night bite after the concert, at St. Paul's historic Mickey's Diner.
tooch: Wonderful photos and lids.
Dennis: Thanks!
Alejandro: Thank you, I really like it and its wider-brimmed brother, too.
Michael: Breathtaking! You are a lucky man to live amongst such beauty. The hat looks organic to its environs.
Jimmy: Thanks! :)
Dan: Thank you for your candor, I appreciate it. :) I agree that the GP is a flamboyant hat that not everyone will have a fondness for. In its defense, however, I have to say that it is a bold design which was executed well in terms of high grade felt and finish. Dobbs...
Very nice lids today, AtomicEraTom, daizawaguy!
It was sunny but back to frigid yesterday in Minnesota, with a biting wind to boot.

Nice hat, hutch. You may want to have a look at the Ohio-The-Heart-and-Hat-of-it-all! thread, and post your hat there. Quite a few Ohioans here in the lounge. No doubt someone else has a lid from the same hatter. I seem to recall seeing a lid with this hatter's logo somewhere...
Welcome...
Many well taken viewpoints on the subject, and I will share my thoughts also.
As with many other natural and man-made fibers used in hatmaking, the term Shantung has been misused, and one could argue mis-represented, in the marketing of such hats.
Just as with other fibers, I believe...
Wow, sorry I missed this discussion somehow, Dennis. Congratulations on your Optimo Milan order. You will be absolutely thrilled with it, of that I am certain. The Optimo Milans are truly magnificent.
When I get home tonight I will take mine out and measure and photograph it, but I am...
Thank you, Alan, Dennis, and Mike!
Dennis, I stumbled upon the listing on the 'Bay an hour before it ended. It was not listed very well and thus did not attract too much attention.
