Howdy Partner!
Today I got a "howdy partner" with my silverbelly OR with a center dent, front crease, a blue button down shirt, khakis, and brown saddle oxfords. I reckon it musta been the saddles I was carryin 'round? I get a lot of cowboy comments around here, even with a wide ribbon Knox in...
Many Thanks!
Thanks to JD for such a generous gesture. The Lounge is a great place! Can't wait to wear that Whippet with my dark suits/jackets. Regards, F_M
oops!
Sorry about that, I meant it was originally bought at Hastings, and stamped in the hatband. I bought it from the bay. The old box had a label that had '44 or '49 as the purchase date (assuming it wat the box for the hat, though the label stuck to the box was a Hasting's label). I could...
Here's My Knox
Here's a grey, 2-3/4 brim Knox, bought at Hastings Men's store, San Francisco. It lives in Florida now. This has the most amazing felt. It is soft and lightweight, but can hold a shape really well, then morph into another shape with just your hands. Really nice! Here are some...
Rayon
Rayon is highly popular in Asian countries. The only new rayon manufacturing facilities that have been built recently are in Asia. Rayon is valued in India for its silk like sheen and it's cotton like breathability.
The US went the polyester route, thus the demise of rayon. F_M

Nice Blue Lid
Nice blue hat, Trotsky
Over the years, most of my wardrobe has been blues, but I don't have a blue hat. Yours is really nice. Regards F_M
Thanks
Thanks for the comments guys. I was on a business trip pand took an extra day to drive through the park. It was windy and a littly chilly (for a FL swamper anyway). So, the felt hat sure worked out nicely. Thanks
Nice bash on the western!
Hoss,
You really mede that Western look nice. That's a great look for that hat and makes me think of some possibilities for an old wester I have. Regards F_M
Champ #2 in GSM Nat Park
I had just aquired my 2nd Champ Featherweight, in Chocolate Brown, when I was scheduled to go to Tennessee. Here is the hat and me wearing it in Great Smoky Mt. Nat Park. Love those Champ Featherweights! Regards F_M
It beats the alternative!
My wife, while generally supportive of my hat wearing, will take the opportunity for a little chiding from time to time. I do have one funny story, one that endeared some of my family and friends to my hat wearing.
Last fall, my daughter was a sr in High school and...
When the first indy came out, I was wearing cowboy hats and an old pair of Justins. I gravitated to Aussie type hats way before I obtained anything that looked like an Indy hat. I started wearing a fedora when I decided I wanted to change my wardrobe and wear something besides Levis 505s every...
Last year my daughter was in the Junior Miss program in our community. The dads were give the honor of escorting our daughters across the stage in their formal dress just before the interview. This dad even bought a new suit. I was in Memphis on business a couple weeks before the event and...
My ole bald noggin' makes a really good heat transfer surface. A few minutes exposed in the Florida sun and I'm toast. When it's hot, I wear a fairly open weave Panama, so it breathes. If I retire to the shade-and especially if I get a little breeze--the hat comes off and ole heat exchanger head...
