Steve, barcodes and UPC codes were in use in supermarkets in the U.S. by the early 1970s. Not sure how long it took the technology to be adopted by other industries, but it certainly seems possible. -

Probably not, Craig. I'd rate it about 10% firmer than my 1950s Royal DeLuxe. But ABSOLUTELY the softest western I've ever touched. -
