    New? Pike Bros A-2

It is over priced compared with other lower end A-2s and nowhere near accurate compared with an original. For the same money you can buy a decent used A-2 from made by one of the premier makers.

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

Yes indeed. The label could certainly be more accurate.

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

The best way to evaluate a repro Irvin is to compare it with an original. WPG Irvins are good starter jackets. The fleece is very close to originals and the pattern is fine. The price is excellent. The zips are wrong and could be replaced with Dot or Lightning ones if ones wishes. From a...

RARE NWT Vintage Willis & Geiger Navy G-1 Flight Jacket 42 Long

I agree, a 1980s or '90s repro! Nice jacket though.

    Calling A-2 Experts

I have owned all the RW A-2 contracts and the tagged size of the jackets varied. This last contract is certainly roomy in the chest compared to some others, such as the previous RW contract.

    Original Aero Contract A-2 18775P

This a very well preserved original Aero from the 42-15142-P order. The order was placed on 28th March 1942 and was for 50,000 jackets. Each jacket cost $8.25 then!

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

I remember now. It is 100% original and most certainly not a repro. I am sure it will do well in the classified section here on an online auction site.

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

If you can get some decent pictures I can tell you whether it is an original or a reproduction.

Bill Kelso A2 29971 cowhide, fit pictures.

This is not a copy of a specific contract although the pocket flaps are similar to Roughwear ones. The jacket fits you well in the chest and shoulders but is a little short in the body and the arms. It would be fine with high waisted vintage trousers. There was no perfect fit in the War. You...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

I have wondered this too Paul. I do not know the answer. My thoughts are as follows. Dot zips were made under licence from United Carr. these zips were made in the UK (at Stapleford) the USA and in Canada. The "C" could stand for Canadian made zips. However, the pullers are stamped A.M. c . We...

    Original Irvin main zipper.

The slider is a cast Dot replacement one on a Lightning zip. Squeezing the slider will simply break it. These cast double trunnion zips are notorious for breaking.

    Original Irvin main zipper.

These Lightning sliders look like size 8s. The size is the width of the zip track and Wartime Irvins used size 8 zips. It would be best to message Steve and check they are size 8s to fit an Irvin zip.

    Original Irvin main zipper.

You will need a size 8 slider. The Lightning ones are being sold by Stephen Silburn from Sefton Clothing. The Lightning slider would be ideal for an Irvin sleeve zip, but may require some filing to allow the male insertion tab to fit through it.
