Hi @Kalmer This is a Cal, you can be sure. It's their current pattern. Here one owned by the architect Peter Marino: the same as you've shown but with belt loops and mid-weight leather.
And this one is like the 1st you attached: same weight leather.
Well, I noticed there are plenty details which help to establish a period, e.g: the stitching drawing, the belt area thickness, zippers (of course!), lappels shape, the point where collar snaps are placed, the maker label (if it still exists), the kind of leather, even the epaulettes shape.
I...
LAPD Cal with fur collar. I've contacted to the seller asking for the size which is usually written inside the inner pocket, but there's nothing. Only USA shipment.

As I promised weeks ago, I show my 2nd Cal-Leather: a LAPD with epaulettes, belt loops (Sam Browne belt missing...), Talon zippers on cuffs and pockets and Serval on the body, medium weight leather and made in the mid-70s. I hope you like!
My Cal-Leather LAPD jacket. I love this design: padded elbows and shoulders with epaulettes, made of heavy horsehide. Cal staff told me this jacket was made at late 1960s, so I wear proudly 50 years of history :)
PS: I have another Cal coming on the way. Asap I get it, I'll share pics!
Thanks, CRAZYBUBBA and ButteMT61. As long as to retain/increase the leather smell, I'd use Obenauf's Leather Oil. In any case, my horsehide jacket is kept in a cloth bag during the summer, so its smell's gathered inside.
We used pliers to fasten the pin back. You must be very delicate in this step because if you warp the pin, then this can't go through the slider body of the zipper. *I recommend having a spare pin in case things go sideways.
Yes, it's a complex method, but worthy. It saves time and money. It...
Hi mates,
I'm proud to announce my Cal-Leather jacket zipper has been fixed! It zips up properly :D
Let's remember the issue: the zipper didn't work because the fabric which holds the bottom pin was frayed.
What my father and I did:
1. Putting the pin out of the decayed fabric -very carefully...
Thank you all for the comments about the drawing :D I'm not architect, but I sketch since kid.
Well, I'm pretty sure I'll repair the frayed part with some adhesive tape (eg. tape used to protect wires of car engines) in order to reinforce it.
But the next question I ask myself is how to "glue"...
Hi shadowrider, thanks for the answer. My father, who's vey handy, thought the same: 1) open a little the pin, 2) restoring the frayed part with a piece of black adhesive cloth tape and 3) close the pin again.
I wonder if we'll be able to open & close this pin. I'm afraid of cracking it. Do you...
Hi Jonbuilder, how did it go at the end? Could you fix the zipper avoiding the replacement?
I'm asking because I have a similiar problem with my new vintage jacket: the bottom male pin is a little separated of the fabric. However I must say it zips up with a little effort, but I'm afraid that...
