DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

According to Billboard... Only Elvis sold more records in the 50's than Antoine "Fats" Domino. And he was a helluva piano player/song writer to boot. Worf

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"Lady SnowBlood" - The TCM hub on HBO Max has had this one on there for some time so I decided to give it a whirl. Didn't take more'n an hour for me to realize that Quinten T owes these folks a big check! There are so many similarities between the two films that it's clear that Tarrentino used...

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

In music circles there's an apocryphal story of a photo existing taken backstage at some Rock n' Roll multi-band concert. In said photo Jerry Lee has a pistol pointed at Chuck while Berry is supposed to have a straight razor to the other mans neck. Don't know if it's true BUT I've heard the...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Excellent review, couldn't and DIDN'T do better myself. Can't remember ever beating you to the punch on a great, obscure film. I'd never heard of it before and got "sucked in". That shows you how compelling this little melodrama is. I hope more folks see it. Thanks for confirming my view of...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"So Ends Our Night" - This 1941 offering from United Artists slams the Nazis in a manner most of the major studios were not and would not do until America was firmly in it. Only "The Mortal Storm" made in 1940 from MGM comes even close to laying it on the line like this offering. The film...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"Hellraiser" (2022) - This HULU flick is a "modern" retelling of the Hellraiser origin story. It's not bad but I still prefer the original. The new film expands the lore and gives us 5 new levels of the "Puzzle Box". The Cenobites are new and reimagined. Not as gory as it's predecessor but a...

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

I was driving home when I heard this on NPR. They then proceeded to play a song of hers from "Bed knobs and Broomsticks". I was in tears by the end... Good innings and a great career. Worf

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"The Phenix City Story" - Made in the late 50's this no holds barred tale of a smallish Southern Town owned and run by murderous gangsters would seem laughable if it weren't essentially a true story. This movie, shot in the town itself and acted by actual citizens (including the local brothel...

    Lets see your Thunderbays

Yes... I believe I did... It's aged well. I've driven in it a lot over the years and there's some good creasing and graining, particularly in the arms and waist. Worf

    Lets see your Thunderbays

Thanks for the love folks. Warm and stylish. I recommend it for anyone (particularly bikers) who want a warm winter Jacket with some flair. Not recommended for those who can't lift heavy weights LOL! It is a bit "chunky". Worf

What was the last TV show you watched?

Just started watching the "Hornblower" series on Roku. Missed this entirely when it first came out. Didn't know it even existed till I ran into clips on YouTube. Interesting if a bit shy on the misery of service in the Royal Navy. Read some of the books decades ago so I'll be interested to...

Looking for my first Deer/Elk Skin Jacket... Who Makes em?

I went to their website before posting here and every style I looked at it was NOT in the list of offered hides... unless I'm missing sumthin' which is possible as I slide into my dotage. Thanks for the quick replies guys/gals. Worf

Anyone else still waiting for jacket weather ?

Already had a few "Jacket Days" here. Nothing heavy... an A1 a couple of times and a raincoat off and on. Wore a raincoat and Akubra in the drizzle today while out walking the dog. I love Jacket weather! It usually means an end to the bugs, no more mowing the lawn and trimming hedges. Worf

Looking for my first Deer/Elk Skin Jacket... Who Makes em?

I've everything but goat and Deer/Elk. I'm looking for a deer or elk skin jacket or coat (non-western... I don't do fringe). Any suggestion as to who can make me one? Any help would be appreciated. Worf

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

As a product on the NY City Housing Projects and the "great bussing experiment" (the "40" Projects, South Jamaica, Queens) I agree and disagree with your assessment of them. When I was new, my building was new and my neighborhood (7 and 4 story buildings) contained all manner of people...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"No Time to Die" - I caught the latest Bond outing via streaming and I have to say... I liked it. All the Daniel Craig Bond films were great far as I'm concerned (save Quantum of Solace) in that he felt far more "real" to me than any other Bond, even Connery. Connery's Bond, was/is a superhero...

    US Manufactured Jeans

Hmmm when I tried to stick my toe into the Selvidge waters I got robbed... literally, by a company that never delivered, never responded. I swore I'd never make that mistake again. Looking at this thread only makes me renew my vow. Only one of the makers above produces anything in size 42 to...

What was the last TV show you watched?

Netflix is in trouble primarily because of a dramatic increase in competition. Remember they were the first and the biggest for a long time... now they're just one of many with some other big fish in the pond. They can no longer afford to waste millions on shows that aren't killing it. But I...
