    Get Low

This movie deserves a bump. It is highly recommended for the loungers. I watched at the theatre last night and would love to watch it again. Next time I´ll pay closer attention to the finer details in costumes and set design. I´m no expert on the style of the thirties but the atmosphere created...

Fashion models of the Golden Era - Top Models or normal women advertising clothes?

It should be noted that image retouching existed prior to the introduction of Adobe Photoshop. Back in the days skilled retouch artists painted on the negatives smoothing out skin tones, removing wrinkles etc. Here´s a link showing a before/after example of a George Hurrell photo featuring Joan...

    Blade Runner remastered

Great link! I had an epic Blade Runner moment a couple of years back. On a trip to Tokyo I spent an evening in the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building staring at the vast cityscape while listening to the Vangelis soundtrack on my iPod. Highly recommended until Ridley...

    Retro Graphic Novels

Violent Cases While sorting my books in my new bookshelf I found this forgotten gem written by Neil Gaiman in 1987 and beautifully illustrated by Dave McKean. The storyline is partly set in the gangster era and involves Al Capone´s osteopath. It´s been reprinted since and new editions are...

    Show us your suits

A small town in Sweden called Hjo. In a thrift shop nearby I also scored a vintage tie rack and the New York World´s Fair guide book mentioned in this thread: http://thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=1464 I guess sometimes you´ll find yourself in the right place at the right time ... :)

    Show us your suits

I have to disagree. The letters VDN on the grey suit label means Varudeklarationsnämnden, a Swedish consumer organization active beween 1951-1972. The Swedish language used on that label also has a more vintage ring to it than that of the 80:s. Of course the suits could be from different eras...

    Show us your suits

New Old Stock Suits I found these three two piece single breasted suits while on a road trip this summer. A store was closing down and the store owner cleared out the entire stock. A rack of vintage suits up front had only weird sizes but in the corner of my eye I spotted some similar...

New York World´s Fair 1939 Official Guide Book Second Edition I´m bumping this thread to show you some images of a book I found in a thrift shop this summer. It´s the second edition of the official guide book to the 1939 New York World´s Fair. The foreword states that it was printed before the...
