Can anyone out there help a young girl who doesn't know what to do with her hair??

Welcome, StrayKitten! You have similiar hair to mine, very fine and thin. I've always loathed my hair and wanted a beautiful set of curls like the gorgeous women of the thirties and fourties. I would agree with the rest that a curling iron isn't the best way to go. It's useful for touch ups...

    Foam bendy rollers

Well thanks for the insight, Tatum and Frenchy! You've definitely confirmed that they will not do what I want them to and thus you have saved me some money! I absolutely love how hot sticks works on my hair, so I thought these might work as well, but i'm not even gonna waste my time.

    Foam bendy rollers

This thread seemed to have turned into a thread about curlformers, but I just wanted to see if anyone has tried out the foam bendy rollers and how it turned out? I'm talking about the ones that look like hot sticks but do not produce heat. I'm considering trying these but not sure yet.

    Tattoos...

So, ladies, Do any of you have tattoos? I would like to get a non descript one but am having a hard time making a decision on what I want. I know this probably isn't very 1940's or 30's, but I always love seeing the neat tattoos that many of my rockabilly friends get. Please share yours here if...

    Vintage Exercise Techniques

Thanks for the insights, ladies! At least now I know I'm not missing something. I have been trying to reset my hair without washing it but using a dry shampoo on days that I work out. It seems to work pretty well, although I'm sure to some that seems gross. It actually holds the curl very well!

    Vintage Exercise Techniques

I do high interval training as well! It's GREAT! Best workout I've found for a person who's not crazy about running either.

    Vintage Exercise Techniques

Maintaining Pin Curls and excercising I posted this question on another thread but haven't received any comments yet, so I'll try here! How do you maintain your pin curls if you are excercising regularly? I am on a workout routine and am not sure how to do it. I get so sweaty that I want to...

    Nutrition and exercise!

I am on a diet currently and trying to lose weight. I'm counting calories and do kickboxing as well. I have a more practical question in regards to how you ladies keep up your vintage do' while having a workout routine. I hope this isn't a silly question! What do you do with your hair after a...

What is your Curl Set Routine for Fine/Thin Hair

Thank you soooo much, Frenchy!! The standing pin curls were wonderful!! I have to share a trick I recently learned though. The strands of my hair are very uneven and so it is hard to get all of the hairs into a strand big enough to roll. I found an article on a blog recently...

As if we didn't chat about pin curls enough. . .

I just thought I'd share, recently I bought these: And this has eliminated my need for wrapping papers when I do a foam roller set! They are basically foam rollers with satin wrapped around them. They work wonderfully and come in many different sizes.

What is your Curl Set Routine for Fine/Thin Hair

I think I've figured out my problem. I'm getting so discouraged. I think that I am unsatisfied with the way the curls are turning out because, a) I need my hair to be a bit longer, and b) I actually am struggling with the front of it because (gulp, this is hard to admit) I actually have a scalp...

As if we didn't chat about pin curls enough. . .

Wish I knew the answer to your question, Frenchy! I think I have decided that my favorite curl is the perm rod curl. When I do pin curls, standing or flat, my hair tends to come out more fluffy and fifties like. I'm going more for a thirties/fourties look, so that doesn't help. But when I do...

Creme de la Mer and other indulgances/guilty pleasures

I just received my first Mason Pearson Handy sensitive brush in the mail! I have a strong feeling that this will become one of my favorite indulgences very fast!!

What is your Curl Set Routine for Fine/Thin Hair

Awesome little tutorial there, Frenchy56! I don't know why, but the standing ones scare me more than the flat ones do but you've convinced me to try it. I tried hot rollers last night and I was so disappointed. They fell within an hour or two! I don't want to have to hairspray the heck out...

    Beauty Complaints

I wish my hair was thicker. I have always had very fine, thin blonde hair and have always wanted luxurious locks. Although I can't complain that my hair color is a natural golden blonde and still hasn't darkened even in my thirties. Fingers crossed!!

What is your Curl Set Routine for Fine/Thin Hair

I did use the end papers with great success and little to no product when I used perming rods over the weekend. But I can't figure out for the life of me how to get them to work with pin curls. Do you wrap the paper all the way around the tip? Should I make the paper smaller? My hair kept...
