I've fallen in love...with Biltmore
Biltmore makes a good hat, and the Ark is a good choice for a first fur felt hat. Are you sure you want black, though? I know you're the Dude In Black, but you might be better served with steel because grey's a more versatile color. I'm prejudiced, though, because grey's my favorite hat color.- Mr E Train

You should be able to steam it until it softens and then carefully bend it down and sit it on a flat surface with a weight on it until it dries to flatten it.- Mr E Train

They sometimes look tapered for some reason in the stock photographs, but mine isn't tapered at all and looks exactly like Panama Bob's, except for the aftermarket puggaree. Milan Mania
I like the Avenue, it's a good looking hat. I bought one off eBay recently and it was way oversized (supposed to be a 7 3/4 but fit like an 8) and the crease was off center. I'm thinking it must have been a factory second. I'll see if I can get the sweatband to shrink up and try to steam it...- Mr E Train

Use a steam iron on a setting just high enough to generate steam, place the hat on a flat surface, place a cloth over the bowed-up area of the brim and press the iron and hit it with a zap of steam, then remove the iron. Getting ready for spring, just got this Dobbs Winner today. Pretty good deal, $57 from Hartford York. I bought a 7 3/4, and the sticker on the inside of the sweatband said 7 3/4, but the tag, as you can see, says 63 - 7 7/8. Not sure what's up with that, but it fits perfectly.
