OK, did any of us win this Stetson Whippetesque?

Not I said the fly... I watched that one but realized I wouldn't get it. Looks like it would clean up and reshape nicely. Cheers! Dan

    a lapel cord

Also known as a wind trolley.. I use the one on my Borsalino because it is a tad loose when I get a haircut. It usually is usually looped through the button hole of a suit lapel, but if you are not wearing a suit you could pass it through the button hole of the shirt placket or the button hole...

Can I consider myself a Whippet owner?

It certainly has all the hallmarks of a Whippet. But like the Stetson Royal Deluxe I just got there is no logo inside. That isn't to say you don't have a Whippet there, just like mine could be an Open Road or a Stratoliner. It may have been one of their other models that didn't carry the Whippet...

    A cautionary tale...

Yeeesh!  My condolances friend. I hope all will turn out right in the end. Just as a side note, when cleaning light colored hats with something like Scout or Properts Hat cleaners, use the dark color hat cleaner. It won leave those blotchy patches in the felt like you initially...

    Dunlap Superior

Well I now have photos... Here are a few photos. Again, sorry about the quality of the images.:eusa_doh: It takes on just about most shapes I throw at it and holds them quite well. It is quite a comfortable hat to wear, but gets a tad warm with this warmer weather we've had...

    Royal De Luxe Stetson

Thank you folks. I now have a few photos to share with you. Sorry about the quality of the photos, but we had a bit of a laundry accident with my good camera and now I have to use the old HP that seems to lie focusing on the background instead of the foreground. Oh well, still better than a...

    vintage hat finds

There's just something about an Adam Hat. My very first "vintage" hat was an Adam. It went for $10.00 + shipping. I don't think I find a deal like that again, but one never knows, anything can happen. Great looking hats in that collection, especiall the straw.:eusa_clap Cheers! Dan

    Royal De Luxe Stetson

Well folks it came in yesterday! Boy howdy! This hat is in excellent shape. I don't think it was worn more than a half a dozen time in its life time, no sweat stains or warping of the sweatband. It has a fairly wide brim & tall crown. And when I said that this would make a nice light weight hat...

    Moth protection for Hats

Also if where you keep the hats, lets say a hall or bedroom closet, is cedar line that tends to keep the little fritters at bay along with the moth balls. If you can, find or make hat stands out of cedar as well. Hope that this helps. Cheers! Dan

    Gettysburg Veterans 1938! Hats galore!

Great photos Dean! Very cool, thank you! Those fellas had some great character in their faces, they would make great subjects for pencil sketches. I may have to give it a shot and see what I come up with. The one old fellas bear though just didn't look real. It looks like one of those hung on...

Champ Deluxe in 7 5/8! Photographs (and accolades for Wesne).

Nice looking lid DJ!:eusa_clap I dig on the brim treatment, very spiffy indeed! A little investment in the sweatband and you'll av an A1 daily wearer. Cheers! Dan
