vintage vogue
I so agree. I had a wonderful
Vogue pattern that was a simple
shirtwaist dress. I made it 20 times
and loved every version. Also loved
the size I was then. Wish I could find it.
I keep scanning the ebay ads but don't find it>
Hope someone at Vogue picks up on your...
classic lifestyle
We were sorting old film stills at the
Library of Congress. What a waste for
them to be stuck in a box there.
They sure would make great covers for
such a magazine.
As soon as it comes out I'm jumping in
my Bugatti and rushing to the news
stand. Hooray for you.
muslin patterns
Wash the muslin in hot water and steam iron it.
it will shrink and then you won't have to worry
about it shrinking again. You can make a pattern
that perfectly fits you from the muslin.
Tea in Cornwall
We stopped in Mossel Bay near Cornwall at a small
inn and had tea in the garden with clotted cream
and scones. A beautiful memory. It overlooked the sea.
Thanks so much for the recipes.
vintage patterns
I've sewn forever and I agree.
Use thin muslin. It won't disintegrate
and you can use it over and over.
A bit more room needed for storage.
It's what they use in costume shops.
Most garments are made of muslin first
and then made of the fashion fabric.
Does anyone collect hat boxes!!
I have two Elizabeth Arden -- pink --
hat boxes. They're small. Perfect for
those little cocktail hats. One is 9" across
and the other 10". They still have the little rope handles.
If you're willing to pay the UPS, I'll send them to you.

chinese pajama
Pajamas in the chinese style are great too.
Made in very soft cotton. They are so comfy
and you can sleep or lounge in them.
Mostly they are made for children.
Has anyone found them for adults?
Chinatown shops always have great finds.
Little slippers and such.
Does anyone collect old perfume bottles
I have a few -- one old Capricci and
some other Nina Ricci bottles. Three large
and three miniatures. If anyone would like
them, the post office has those boxes (I think it's
$6.00 regardless of weight). Send me your
address and they're...
smoking jackets - lounging robes
There must be a 'Cary Grant' out there interested in these.
They are very cool. Really.
Any offer honored. They need a home with someone
who appreciates lounging around. There you are
sitting in your library reading Dashiell Hammet and
you're not...
Gloves
My cousin just gave me two pair
of organdy gloves. One is small
and the other pair very very small.
One has embroidery and the other
a swirly ruffle made of the organza.
Is anyone very small and into gloves.
One pair has a slight blue spot.
They are quite charming.
Must clarify
Must amend my "perfect" description.
The blue robe has an ashes hole in the lapel.
Small, but there it is.
The robe is very dark so it could be mended
or left alone or -- are there masculine pins?
A military pin to hide it? What would
Cary Grant do is such a situation...
lounging and smoking
If you will email me
kathymklein@aol.com
It seems I am having trouble positing the pictures on
the site. But can put them in an email.
Will send description and measurements. -- kmk
I have two long lounging robes and one smoking jacket.
can forward photo of the one robe if anyone is interested.
They are all in perfect condition.
One lounging robe is dark red and the short smoking jacket
is red also. The other long robe is dark blue with a
damask swirl design...
allergic to wool
You may do a velvet collar which many wool suits had
then. Some nubby silk can look very much like wool.
Or cotton velvet which can be pre-washed to shrink
and washed instead of dry-cleaned.
Vogue Vintage Patterns
Have two Vogue Paris Original patterns
If anyone would like them.
They are both size 12 but one says
bust 30 and the other says bust 32.
I peeked inside and the don't seem to have
been used. One is a Paquin wrap around dress
with large buttons at the bodice...
hats -- glue
Don't ever use glue on fabric.
it never comes out.
You may ruin your hat forever.
Just find someone to tack the ribbon on.
A good tailor will know how.
Jacket is Stunning
This will be stunning on you.
We're planning to move to Pittsburgh.
Please tell us EVERYONE doesn't wear
Stellar sweatshirts ALL the time.
