Good morning David, Did you ever get the M-422A that you were looking for? I just received mine this past Friday and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. It was alot more than I wanted to pay but I have been wanting this jacket for about 23 years now. I wish I could remember how much ELC...
Good evening men,
Random question. Do any of you remember seeing an Eastman M-422A floating around the internet a few years ago with the name E.D. Feid stamped in black on the inside lining?
I've come across this jacket on ebay that i'm interested in buying and the more i look at it and that...
Thanks for the info. I'm a greenhorn so it will be more of a hobby for me at this point. At 52 I'd also like to do something that could benefit others and hopefully give me a skill that I can work into.
No dampening here. I will find out soon enough how I take to it. Right now it will be for selfish, personal gain as I try to make a few for myself. When I started digging for suppliers of hat making tools I was overwhelmed. Many out there and the prices were lower than I expected.
After reading about Chandler and Tatton Baird hatters, I found out that there are only about 6 or so hatters in the U.S. This is hard to believe but I can see a bit of truth in it.
I have always been interested in this wonderfully skilled trade. I have started to source all the tools necessary...
Good evening men,
I am trying to find out if anyone on here has an original H.&L. Block M422a for sale. I missed out on a helluva deal the other day for one on ebay. I know these are top dollar and I don't want to break the bank. Anyone out there have one in a 40-42R range? Pics included...
theundeadkennedy, That is a great looking color. You are going to get many, many years of wear out of that jacket. Maybe even hand it down to the little one!
Congrats on Fatherhood! As I have seen in some other replies, it starts and stops with personal preference. I am a AN6552, M422A and G-1 guy. None of mine are repros, as I have opted for all originals and the MIL-SPEC fit that accompanies them. I did however own an AERO Beacon, NY horsehide A-2...
Thanks very much. Shaul is your man when it comes to restoration in my opinion. I honestly think he could do a better job of getting his authenticity correct on many of his WWII jackets. But he has his own business and has created a market for his brand and that's way more than I have...
Thor, Thanks again! Funny, more research revealed that it is actually an M422a. USN in very, very faded yellow on back of collar. Original owner or military personnel exiting the jacket out of service blacked the letters out. Still slightly visible in the right light.
Stand By, Thanks!
I am very thrilled to finally have it repaired and wearable after all these years. I heard that having your jackets hanging in the closet on a hanger could damage the shoulders. So now it is laying flat on our dining room table. My wife is not a happy camper...
bn1966, I appreciate it! I am getting more photos downloaded. I just had my Willis and Geiger M-422A repaired also and I want to post pics of that one too.
HoosierDaddy, Thanks.
It was my first purchase from ebay about 15 years ago. Collar was replaced by Shaul Dover at US Authentic. He did a great job matching it. Shaul also replaced the period cuffs/waistband and NOS Talon zipper that I sent him. He was unable to save the original lining so he...
