Thank you for the advice! I have a bit of sewing experience but I don't think I'm up to anything particularly complicated just yet.
I hadn't thought of looking into online reviews for patterns, they will be helpful for working out if I can do it.
I like the idea of an A-line skirt. The fabric...
Wow, you girls all look so good in your makings. I think you all might be the ispiration I need to stop dithering and crack one and make lovely things! I've found an adorable cartoon pirate print fabric that I've been thinking about making into a skirt or a dress, you all look so nice in your...
Thank you for answering!
I think you have a point about wearing it when it's clearly for warmth and not just in a show off sort of way.
I also think you hit the nail on the head with the question of formality in a modern context. I have a few simple, not fancy dresses I think it would look ok...
Hello ladies, sorry to resurrect and old thread but I think my questions fits into this topic.
I'm in need of some advice. A couple of years ago I got myself a lovely little fur cape. I absolutely love it but I struggle to know how to wear it. I've worn it for some formal events but every time...
That dress looks lovely! Well done for saving it from the bin! I love the hat too. Also, it makes me happy to see someone drinking a pint while looking so nice. My friends always tell me it isn't very lady like for me to drink pints when I'm all vintaged up. Even a stranger in a pub once came up...
The new dress I made! I'm quite happy because I haven't been near a sewing machine for a long time before making this. I don't think it turned out too badly!
This dress is beautiful! I love the little anchor on the skirt!
Flicka, this hat is so pretty! The flowers look really good, the colours work really nicely together. It makes me think about going for picnics in the sunshine, bring on the summer! :)
Flika, thank you. Luckily our garden is sheltered from the wind so I didn't get too cold while posing. I defiantly still needed a cardigan to venture further than the garden though!
Black Dahlia, thank you. The shoes here are one of my favourite pairs. They are really comfortable and not too...
I love looking in this thread to see the nice outfits you all have, everyone looks fantastic!
Here is what I'm wearing today while I prentend that it is summer and not March. Sorry for the poor quality pic, it was taken with my phone.
That hat pin is beautiful! I also love those containers, they are very cool. I hope kittens and shopping for those lovely goodies made you feel better.
:) Thank you! You defiantly have permission to borrow the look and spread the beret love!
SheBear74, I can sympathise with the embarrassing dress flying up situation! Hopefully there weren't too many people around to make it worse! lol
Today's hair style is a bit of an ongoing experiment for me. I want to find a way to wear a beret while having my hair up. All my other attempts seem to end up with the beret balanced loosely on my head which, even if I can make it look alright, it's very practical. However, I think I might have...
Thank you for the compliments everyone! You all put a smile on my face!
Juliet, I was wearing a Bourjois lipstick. The shade is called "rouge fashion". It's a really nice lipstick, I wear it most days. I put a quite plummy lip liner on underneath it which changed the colour a bit.
