Not much, but interesting local history. I picked up this file box at Goodwill. It has a vintage "Monkey Ward" auto club sticker, and a Youngstown name and address. I researched it, and the man apparently passed away in 1995. As of 2011, his house still existed. Youngstown is largely...
Set for 6, Castleton (Shenango China) "Severn," ivory with platinum, probably made in the late '50s or very early '60s. It's factory seconds, so that is why the odd mix of pieces. Got this china and a huge $200 Honeywell HEPA filter for $15 out the door.
Castleton china was made in New...
I went to the Salvation Army thrift store on a whim and came home with this set of Castleton (Shenango China) "Severn" pattern. Ivory with platinum. This pattern was made 1958-1972 or so. Shenango China was based in New Castle, PA, and I collect some of their bone china if I happen to find...
vintageTink, google Quilt Board, find the vintage machines part of the forum, and see if anyone there can help you. There is also a Vintage Japanese Zigzag or other such group on Yahoo.

And even the cubic zirconia stones are convincingly real, if you buy good ones. These are from freecz.com (no affiliation) The ring with the ruby sidestones is a vintage setting that I got on ebay.
The rectangular stones are "Angel" cut, like a Krupps diamond with an open culet if you look...
The hexagon ring is a vintage-look 18k gold setting from Shenoa in NYC. The diamond in it is a .85ct OEC 6.3mm diameter, I color with medium blue fluorescence that makes it appear very white. I got the diamond at a pawn shop back in 1993, when nobody wanted older-cut diamonds. I bought the...
These are mine. Only the center stones of the bottom left and bottom center ring (in the group picture) are diamond. The rest are Moissanite. All sidestones are diamond. The "wave" ring guard in the top row is a vintage piece.
For those who've always craved a big Old European Cut diamond, there are OEC Moissanite stones now. No affiliation, but there are lots of beauties on the betterthandiamond board.

If its a round bobbin, it's a Singer model 66. If it has a shuttle and long dumbell-type bobbins, it's probably a 128. Search or join that quilt board...
ATTACHMENTS: I posted this in a sewing thread in The Powder Room, but I'll repeat it here. The Singer low shank attachments fit a lot of Japanese and some of the current Brother machines. The old Whites, Kenmores, Japanese clone machines, etc. had the same or similar collections of...
Using attachments, from Singer online manuals
ALL KINDS OF ATTACHMENTS:
I stumbled onto http://sewing-machines.blogspot.com/2008/08/singer-online-manuals.html yesterday, while looking for something else. The Singer machines like the 66 and the 15 series came with a whole box of attachments...
I concur with late '40s / early '50s. It shows a lot of Dior New Look influence in the raglan shoulder and the full skirt, and maybe the 3/4 length sleeves.

That hat would be memorable, lol. But, seriously, that site has a lot of formal gowns. http://www.milanoo.com/ Someone on another board was looking at wedding dresses there.

Try that one, too. They have more vintage-looking shoes than other places did. I only found that site when someone linked it regarding wedding dresses.

I think tango shoes or dance shoes were suggested on another forum. I don't remember where I saw it, but the person had an entire collection of dance shoes on colors and strap variations. She bought those for street wear because they were padded and comfortable.
