This is a rare one indeed. Aloha tie from Hawaii circa late 40's-early 50's.
Has tassles for the skirt and handpainted with "Aloha" on top and "Hawaii" on bottom. Condition is pretty good, definitely wearable.

I've got an Avirex A-2 for sale that I hate to part with, but alas, it must go.
The jacket has literally been worn maybe 3-4 times. Almost perfect. the tag size says 40, but I'm a 42 chest and I tried it on today with a heavy sweater and it fit comfortably.

After WWII, you start hearing guys referring to each other in civilian life as "soldier," a definite hangover from wartime routine.
Also a lot of army terms entered the lexicon, some still to this day, like "gremlins," "going AWOL," "chickenshit," "Dear John letter," "jeep," "yardbird," etc. etc.
AC, it means that the there is a space of solid color (or pattern in some cases) that is different than the rest of the pattern blocked off where the knot of the tie is. That way, it provides some contrast to the design. It was popular in the 40's and 50's.
It's so cool, most likely a promotional item given out at this convention...also interesting fact, the Marshall-Wells Hardware Co. folded just a little under ten years later.
I know that New Orleans is now in the middle of expanding their streetcar line. I also see a new nationwide high-speed passenger rail system in the future. I think America's obsession with the automobile is slowly puttering out, especially with the heavy influx of mediocre, design-barren imports...

I'm wondering if the workwear "look" is going to fall out of fashion soon in favor of a sunnier, brighter look. I hope so, that means more cheap stuff for us!
