A favorite old Campdraft for checking the patio roof this morning ( lots of rain overnight so there ARE a few leaks). All of Mr Bears favorite dirt spots in the yard are full of water ( and mud) so he is not joining us this morning for pictures... dont feel like giving him a bath today lol. ( White Labrador+ Mud... what could go wrong?)

Was my dad yes.
Ran an R model for many years.
When my brother took over he got a Granite ... that one was constantly in the shop.
That R model ran forever.

Those Mack Rs were beasts. I still see them at truck stops every once in a while.

I have a lot to learn about real trucks. I've driven multiple Volvos, Kennworths and Freightshakers (the Volvos are the best, hands down), but they were all plastic kinds. They do have tons of room in them though.

Just to keep this a bit on target, here is my JBS 3x this morning. I am falling back in love with this hat.

Love those old 3Xs. Scored one in a light grey at the beginning of the summer that I'm eagerly awaiting being able to wear down here in New Orleans.

For those of us that aren't familiar with the lingo, what makes a truck a "plastic" truck?

Yeah I also love the 3xs. I have a small collection of them (sounds like a country song). I hope the Louisiana winter comes early for you this year!

"Plastic trucks" are made out of fiberglass and generally have an automatic transmission (some of them with only ten speeds but many do have 13. ). Most of them have DEF tanks which old timers hate. The entire inside is plastic. Most trucks you see on the road today are plastic, including the one I'm driving.

I had a truck towed once by this ancient wrecker and he kept calling them that. The term stuck with me.

The long noses are the real trucks: generally 18 speed manual transmission often with wooden interiors, those things are a different driving experience altogether.

An old Stetson, kind of an olive brown color. I bought it back in the fall of 1974. My dad and I were at a better men's store and I saw it first and grabbed it. I had just gotten back from a two year posting to Turkey in the USAF. I kept it probably about 5 years then gave it to dad. He had it cleaned, reblocked and wore it a good bit until he died in 1999 at which point I got it back. I had it cleaned and reblocked and a new ribbon put on in lieu of a what I thought was a ****py looking vinyl hatband that mimicked tooled leather. Dad had at some point bought an identical model in black and I got it along with seveal other hats.
I wored the brown one to church today and was commenting about one another member had on and he said it was old. When I told him the story on this one he was amazed at how good it still looked.

Awesome lineup, as always Stefan. For me, it's the Morreton in 1st place, the Borsalino for Berteil in 2nd, and the Battersby in 3rd. And the tie with that Battersby is PHENOMENAL!! As always, thanks for sharing.
