80 degree and muggy at daybreak... definately a straw hat day!
Nice hat! The manufacturing tag behind the sweatband is the most useful tool for estimating a decade on Borsalino hats. 1940s is unlikely due to the impacts of WWII on trade and on the factory in Alessandria.Vintage Borsalino 7 3/8 not sure which decade i think 1950s maybe 40s ?
Very good point. I wish the crown wasnt so tall. It's giving Witch hat vibes. Any fix for that?Nice hat! Too tall? I love this thing. You get tired of looking at it, you let me knowVery good point. I wish the crown wasnt so tall. It's giving Witch hat vibes. Any fix for that?
Impeccable style.
Gentlemen, your compliments always stroke the ego, but I did share your kind remarks with my lady. Tina doesn't do forums but she does like look in on The Lounge, seeing those kind words she went all bashful but expressed her thanks nonetheless. Thank you.Robert, as always, Tina was right. That is the PERFECT hat for that blazer-and-tie combo.
It is pretty straightforward to lower a crown — the key is to move material to a center bump. The felt on your hat looks so nice you probably don‘t even need steam to do it.Very good point. I wish the crown wasnt so tall. It's giving Witch hat vibes. Any fix for that?
An excellent cohesive outfit topped by a great hat. Like the frames especially.Mayser Panama again this evening.

It's been a hot minute since I've been on here. The new job has kept me busy 24/7. I am finally on the homeward journey after running 10 weeks straight.
At home, I'll be switching out the three hats I have. I plan to switch the beaver Northwest Hats, the JBS 25 and the Akubra Fed IV for a beaver Gannon and a Stetson straw (or maybe an Akubra hemp, haven't decided).
Hopefully I'll have more to share next week when I'm home and have more interesting lids to wear. Here are a few photos I've been able to take the last few weeks - I have barely had time to sleep, let alone take photos.
Happy Sunday to all.

P. & C. Habig Wien Berlin, Kreissäge (Boater), mid 1920s. This hat was made specially for the P. & C. Habig Berlin store at Friedrichstrasse 82a which didn't survive WWII. The beautiful Straw Weave glows gold in sunlight and is flexible plus light weight. As you can see from the photos it's in excellent condition. I found this Kreissäge back in 2012.

Very handsome one, Marcel!
That is one DAMN fine lookin' hat, sir!Vintage Borsalino 7 3/8 not sure which decade i think 1950s maybe 40s ?
Great googly moogly!!!! What a STUNNING weave on that one, Alan! No wonder you like to stare at it!I've seen two examples of a 1920s Mikado straw, the other from the collection of RLK which is still hiding around these pages somewhere. A very durable weave with significant heft. It's a hat I wear mostly early in the season but one I keep handy to look at often.
