First decent rain shower for the Campdraft. I tend to wear hats while they dry after a good wetting so they can conform better to my head. The Campdraft is a fairly stiff hat with an oval a bit wider than my head so I’m hoping it’ll shrink down a bit.

I've owned seven or eight furfelt Akubras; all of them started a little loose and quickly snugged up to a perfect fit.

That hatbox is glorious.

In researching the Pedigree Fifth Avenue Hat Co a few yrs back I came to believe it was bought out by DOBBS sometime in the past. I also learned that the Sharks Men’s Store closed in 1973.

Tibor from Carlisle hats Melbourne Australia. Excellent to work with and happy to source hoods from all over the world. I trusted his opinion that such a felt should not be stiffen and he was on the money. My formal fedoras and homburgs are very stiff cowboy weight beaver thats suits them while this is more like the “poet” concept where each day it looks a bit different. He has made five hats for me.

Oh and I think it might have been @steur that gave the post that inspired the idea.

Here it is on its maidan outing with my niece driving and me drinking plus picking up the tab which is only fair.

Mayser "Spezial" possibly late 1940s but could be earlier. I really like the lower profile Crown and the contrasting Felt, Band and Brim Binding. Also the Black Bat Wing Bow design really pops! I found this Homburg back in 2019.

This one is a stunner. I like the multiple colors thing; that hadn’t occurred to me as an option. I’m gonna have to stop commenting on every hat you own; I’ll just let you know if you ever post one that I don’t love lol.

Thought Id wear the little Open Road Ive been rehabbing for someone this morning. Replaced the rotted sweatband, cleaned, worked some surface blemishes out and did some reblocking and stretching ( The owners Grandad was a 7-1/8 and he is a 7-3/8) . Got the ribbon and bow done last night (Did decide to go back with the thin ribbon). Now I just need to reattach the wind cord and put in a few tacks to hold the hatband in place. Always fun when a project nears completion

Another absolutely amazing hat (and more awesome ephemera), Steve! I think one photo didn't post, though.

I think you will find, with Mr. Heck's posts, that you will love each one more and more. He has done amazing work to dig it these old European finds over the years. You should check out his website.

Hat for the morning dog walking was my early-to-mid-50s JC Penney Marathon.
