My hat of the day is actually brand new, despite looking less new. It’s a Thomas Farthing Roxbury. As some of you may know, I’m on a massive Billy Gibbons kick at the moment, both musically and in the hat department. The ribbon sadly didn’t last long. The hat band was originally on my Akubra Snowy river which developed a small floppiness issue, so has gone into storage for a while. Some football teams I follow badges on there (apologies to anyone outside the UK who has never heard of any of the places) The fabric strip is coz why not?

Rabbit fur, colour is “chalk” pretty close to a tan colour. I have put the kick on over the right eye, although I may swap this to my left eye soon enough. 16cm crown, 8.25 on the brim. Feels great and doubt it will stay this clean for long.

Simply.Freaking.Wow. Possibly the hardest Sunday decision-making I've faced yet. After a good ten minutes of going back and forth over those photos, I'm finally going with the T&W Lees Wolf as #1, the Valensy as #2, and the Barbisio as #3. In truth, there's barely a micron of difference between ANY you showed us this week. Thank you, Stefan!

One of the most unique hats I’ve managed to find, with a white heathered felt, decorative spiral stitching through the brim, a woven band that resembles sound waves , and a bright red feather accent that is poised “the wrong direction.”
Light and whimsical. Too light for these winds today, so I had to leave it at home for my walk. It did make it out to holiday festivities, however.
What a tremendously unique and, dare I say it, fun, hat, Jeff!!

Felt like a great day to wander around the streets of Jerusalem and get some shopping done. My favorite second-hand store had this fella waiting for me. Settled with the guy for the equivalent of $50 (it was new, unworn, but very dusty). Akubra Cattleman in my size, just waiting for me.

What a fabulous find, I had no such luck when my wife and I spent a day in Jerusalem. Our visit was part of a cruise ship's itinery. But I tell you Jeff, passport control made you feel like a drug runner or would be terrorist. Security is of course, paramount but why would they ask:
Where were you born, and where were your parents/grandparents born?
What is the purpose of your visit, and why are you here for only one day?
Where are you staying in Israel, and who are you staying with?
Those last two questions still needed an answer even though they knew we were cruise ship passengers. After the grilling, just as we were allowed through and without looking up, one of the passport officers commented on my rather large brimmed straw hat: "Nice hat." "Thank you," I replied, not knowing who had said the comment.

What you learn about security is that it's not even so much about the actual answers as much as the responses to bring asked the questions. They are watching for many angles and are trained to look for certain things (unknown to most) in receiving the responses.

Aside from my visits to Sherlock's Hat Store, my usual haunt in this area, this is the first time I have had such luck myself. The "second hand" in the store is usually furniture, silver and knicknacks.
