i currently get these messages, always the same about once every 36h, there appears to be either a very motivated individual or an organized **** group targeting this forum. i suggest closing registration for a few weeks or putting up a minimum amount of posts before new members can use pm function.
I believe there already is a minimum post requirement for PM, but not sure.

When you get that type of message, copy, paste and report it. If he has targeted you, he will target others. We need to get rid of him as soon as possible.

Wildman is a fraudster and has just messaged me with a similar message, PSA to everyone.
And he is gone.

The best way to report is to tag the offending member using the @ symbol before the name. Then it comes to me as @Wildman I don't have to jump through several hoops to get to him. I just click on his name, hit the ban button, and bam, he is banned.

Got a DM from user Wildman for one of my WTB posts:

Hank has a Rolling Dub Trio Griffin boots size 9.5/10 that he wants to part out for a cheaper price but because i'm not around right now, i couldn't purchase it from him maybe you should email him and see if he still have it for sale. Here's his email [email protected]

Do not forget about the case when the accounts of the participants were hacked.

I still haven't pulled the trigger on purchasing second hand here yet. There seems to always be some red flags whether it be that 99% of their posts are on classifieds or just getting a weird vibe from them being pushy or sending me contact info in their first message.

I however, have sold through reddit and usually go to great lengths to ensure the potential customer gets updates. I had somebody ask if they can send me money through paypal F&F and rejected it, suggesting them to do goods and services even though its 3% more. After that i update them every step of the way from pictures of how im packaging it, to pictures/videos of dropping it off at the post office.

My advice is to scan their profile and see their activity on the forums. If you get a weird vibe from that, avoid them. I feel like some of them even make fake accounts for seller reviews. I've seen cases where the seller reviews are all from new accounts. Not to say that isn't possible but I wouldn't risk it. All this to say, tread carefully when buying second hand and make sure you do your due diligence on whoever is selling

Yes, that can be a problem. Normally, they hack old accounts that have been inactive for a while. If there is something suspicious about the account, you can go back and look at their prior messages to get a feel for what is going on.

It’s brightened up my day at least stringing wildman along.

I asked for some photos and reverse image searched to find a jacket for sale in America on eBay.
I asked for a close up of the inside of the back of the collar as it can fall apart there - to which he replied that it’s all fine and am I ready to send the money?
To which of course I replied that’s great then, I can send via PayPal for security?

Of course said the ****mer @milesjohn8 (Family and Friends)

Not family and friends I replied. sorry but I don’t know you and you might not send me the jacket.

“Well i am a reputable man and i don’t think your 800 is a big deal to me and not to deliver your package to you sir”

Yeah fair point says I. Could I just get a quick pic of the actual jacket with my name and date to reassure me before i send it?

Many hours later………. Photo attached
(presumably after he worked out how to use photoshop and found a handwriting font)

I’ll save my reply for the morning - suggestions welcomed.

(ps is that PayPal name he gave useful?)

Wow, I'm so sorry! Some time ago I was also the victim of an attempted fraud with one of my jackets for sale on the forum. It was the kind of **** where they asked for money upfront to justify sending the money later; luckily, I didn't fall for it. But the issue is complicated. I propose the old-school approach: only allowing users who have a prior recommendation from others. This reduces the risk and shares the responsibility.

Clearly you aren’t a fan of the ****mer payback videos on you-tube? Watching them rage is one of life’s little pleasures!

It’s more about wasting their time, happy to invest a little of mine to do that :)

But in the end I decided to just tell them that everything seemed in order and the money has been senr.

Then blocked them - I wonder how long they will spend chasing me

I remember when we exchanged jackets here and sent them just on trust. It was a wonderful time. Now everything is completely different.

I've sold jackets to members that didn't fit and refunded them without any problem. You just have to be honest. However, the ability to sell is canceled if you don't post twenty sentences. Someone should really think about this, because this policy isn't working.
