Beyond the oops page….
I can’t check PM’s
It takes several attempts to simply login
It takes several attempts to use any of the site buttons.
It takes several attempts to log out.
This all started with ads were embedded into the site. They essentially hijack it. When logged out the site functions perfectly with my ad blocker. Logged in it’s an absolute horror story. It’s so bad I thought my account was intentionally throttled.

I've been unable to use the site more often than not for months. It seems the site has extended periods of being unable to serve the requested content. I guess the admins are struggling to keep the site up, but they clearly need help beyond their present skills.

Ive wondered if the site software thats been causing all the word censoring in posts might be part of the problem. I HAVE found that restarting my computer a time or two usually allows things to load properly. ( for a while). I see the issue most frequently early in the morning and in the evening... for the middle of the day it seems to be fine. If there are issues, I just go somewhere and do something else for a while. A few of the folks that get wired up about this issue might want to chill just a bit.... with the advent of AI I suspect its only going to get more prevelant ( make that worse lol)

By the way Im a retired IT network engineer... Im leaning toward the thought that its either an automated maintenance routine that didnt complete, or security software that doesnt want to play well with things like other security software or ad blockers... historically security software sees other security software as a threat... Oh well it is what it is.... as long as I can eventually get into the site to check things, Im not too upset and have no plans to flame away at the site or its operators

Every time the adult content filter strikes I kind of chuckle, wondering what on earth convinced the admins to turn that dial to 11. Were lots of people posting pics in their hats naked??

There's no correlation there. It's like saying that when it happens you get up, do 20 burpees and then it loads.

Even if there was actually some correlation, it would still be due to something that happened during reboot that did something which could had achieved without rebooting it.

AFAIK, it was not their choice.

Unless one actually owns the servers, most websites are at the mercy of the hosting service. They do what they think is best...many are pretty much automated these days anyway

I would suggest checking if there's some bot detection software running in the backend, like Cloudflare's. My home internet is on a local ISP whose connection seems to trigger the bot check on several websites, and when I'm on that network, I get the error page a lot. Once I get it, it's like a virus - every further connection attempt errors out. But if I switch to my cell carrier's mobile network, I can connect successfully without issues, and it seems to remove the errored state from my account (further attempts to connect from my home internet are also successful for the next 24 or so hours).

Kidding aside I don't think there's anything we can do on our side except wait it out.
For me the 'oops' message can happen anytime anywhere regardless of the ISP, browser...
Turning off the adblocker worked. Once. So I guess it was just a coincidence.
A common denominator seems to be the very high number of guests when unavailable and as that number goes down it becomes available again.

We had nothing to do with the word censoring bot and wish it would go away. It was thrust upon us by whoever controls the server.

Peacoat - thanks for this update. I see "server error" all over. I hope it can be rectified.

I took a screenshot and marked with red dots where possible errors are, I am wondering if something might "crash" soon, and if so, what could happen. All you have to do to get to this information is to Right Click anywhere on the page and hit "View Page Source". I did this while the "Oops" page was up yesterday. See below for details

This is just the structure of the page, from a visual point of view, to showcase an error. It's not any kind of log or indicator, just informative for the user.

I know having someone looking over you shoulder asking you having tried this or that can be annoying as hell so sorry about that or if someone is already aware of this.

I found a post about what seems to be the exact same issue on another forum.
I don't know if the Lounge is running on the same stack as that forum but at first glance it looks pretty similar.

Digging a little further on that post a fix might be clearing / increasing the size of the in memory table holding sessions data. Granted the cronjob clearing that table doesn't hang.

As an alternative moving that table from memory to MySQL (if available) also seems to fix the issue.
