Hats do seem to be a valued addition. Yesterday a text came through that simply said: "Did you wear a red hat at the festival?" The festival being the steam fair at a heritage railway. I probably posted the photo here at the time.
After e-mailing the photo to the railway they asked if they can use it on the next: "Classic cars & trains," event.
In jest, I asked how much are my royalties, to which the reply was: "That's the price of fame." The hat is hand-made to go with the blazer and Tina spent weeks making the trousers.
The cane, by the way, is more of a comfort blanket, I started using it on the surgeon's advice following a hip replacement operation.
VERY handsome heather. Gary, and a stunning tie! Kudos on your transportation creativity, too.Now that I cycle to work, it’s difficult to wear a variety of hats in my work week. I did find a way to get a hat to work today.
View attachment 742250 I don’t think the same is doable with a wider brimmed hat, so for the foreseeable future, this will probably be my work hat.

Véritable Feutre de Poil from an unknown maker.
YOWZA!!!!! That's gorgeous, Timmy!!!St. Regis Vita-Felt in a beautiful shade of dark brown with burgundy grossgrain ribbon hatband and brim edge binding is the latest addition to my collection. It's a very gray cloudy day so the photos don't do the color justice.

That QUITE good looking, Daniele, and in INCREDIBLE condition for a hat of that age.Another late summer/early autumn arrival. The hat is sold without a size and with a brief description.

I tried to trust my eye. I know French hats well, almost as well as Italian ones, so I took a chance.

Well, it worked out. The hat remained on the stretcher for a while and is now wearable again.

From the workmanship and the components used (you'll see them better soon), it's a hat from around a hundred years ago.

The felt is light and very moldable. The shape is similar to other hats from the Southern European period.
As always my best compliments for your hats and thanks for your interest in mine![]()
That's a winner, Jeff!!!A classic-styled Pilgrim, cushion comfort, with the shark gill hat band this morning.

That's one HELL of a beater, sir!!!!
What a MAGNIFICENT, hat, Alan!As a young man in NYC with a Mom that worked as a clothing buyer I spent quite a bit of time in department stores. I always loved visiting Saks Fifth Ave. It was the most wonderful of them all, especially around the holidays. From the LOTXXXX number in this hat, I would guess this hat to be later 1920s but the Saks & Company imprint could make it closer to the middle of that decade which is when Saks and Co. merged with Gimbels and opened their new store and became Saks Fifth Avenue...

Very sharp, Joe, and what a TERRIFICALLY appropriate pin!Stayed with Homburg yesterday.. this time a Dobbs 15 as we went to the gallery reception for my high school photography teacher and His photography exhibition Two Hemispheres a juxtaposition of Iceland and Tanzania, Africa. Some very beautiful work And great to see my friend of nearly 40 years. I thought this little camera tie clip would be the perfect bling for the hat on this occasion.

Thank you Mark. my wife treated me to that hat, when she suggested red I joked about looking like Santa Clause but the red works well. Tomorrow's hat will definitely NOT be seen here, but you can have a sneak peek over on the Hawaiian Shirts & Fedora's thread.Sartorial perfection, as always, Robert.

Welcome!Been Lurking & envying all the hats but I never looked good in hats. Well, I revolted & am now into 3 Western Beaver X's.
First dive was a 6 7/8 6X Black Serratelli,
2nd A 6 7/8 Black Resistol 3X HAND CREASED that has the normal Resistol liner but has BR *** Beaver on the sweatband & a label with "Felt Headwear By Byner Rolnick Division of Koracorp Inc Suggested $162 / Suggested retail $25 Mark up 46%
Today in original box a 5X Palomino Cattle King 4 in brim in Sz 7 with receipt from Wells Boot Center Hurst TX dated 3/12/82 $75. Like New with a spot or two inside the liner. It's full of powder. I love the cool color. It was said to be Silver Belly or light gray. Needs a bit of spruce up in the steam crease dept as it's been in the box looks like for almost 40 years. Wonder how long it was in the store before it was purchased, F00730 seems to be a late 70's type ticket # from what I have seen. I can't find any united or amalgamated label in it. 1982 should have the former. Anyway gave it a punch to smooth the crown, little brush, steam & shape. Tall crown but I'm sure someone can get it to fit me better.
