Every morning, a group of us meet here for coffee where we sit around a big table and solve the worlds problems. Today I wore the newly rehabbed Stetson from last week. Someone walked up and commented how they life the different hats I show up under, and paid for my coffee.... May not be making a living from the hats, but there IS SOME money coming in because of them lol

Another late summer/early autumn arrival. The hat is sold without a size and with a brief description.

I tried to trust my eye. I know French hats well, almost as well as Italian ones, so I took a chance.

Well, it worked out. The hat remained on the stretcher for a while and is now wearable again.

From the workmanship and the components used (you'll see them better soon), it's a hat from around a hundred years ago.

The felt is light and very moldable. The shape is similar to other hats from the Southern European period.
As always my best compliments for your hats and thanks for your interest in mine :)

As a young man in NYC with a Mom that worked as a clothing buyer I spent quite a bit of time in department stores. I always loved visiting Saks Fifth Ave. It was the most wonderful of them all, especially around the holidays. From the LOTXXXX number in this hat, I would guess this hat to be later 1920s but the Saks & Company imprint could make it closer to the middle of that decade which is when Saks and Co. merged with Gimbels and opened their new store and became Saks Fifth Avenue...
