I've been looking for a Stetson Nutria for quite some time and finally found one in my size ! Normally I shy away from a cattlemen crease but this old hat just seemed to want it that way so I let it be.

A Borsalino from a Bulgarian collection that made the rounds on eBay fifteen or so years ago. Advertised as a pre-war stash, it might very well be. The hat was in fine condition save the toasted ribbon which needed replacement. I had intended this hat for my Dad who is a size smaller than me. It languished at our local custom hatter for several months waiting for this work until impatience got the better of me and I brought it back home, where it has remained. The closely cropped velour felt is very fine and very similar in hand to the Anton Peschel for Oviatt's that I have shared before. I feel it wants to be worn pinchless.

I hope you will share any information you might learn about this jacket with me (for example, what kind of leather it is or what years this model was produced). Information in English online is scant and I wonder if there is more in Japanese. I am guessing this is naked cowhide but I would love to be sure.

I checked my purchase history and discovered that it is indeed an AT101 sans tags. The seller didn’t state the kind of leather, but I had always assumed it was cowhide. I just watched a (Japanese) YouTube review of the jacket, and the guy stated it was cowhide.

Temps over 70 have me wearing my new Akubra Balmoral, which was delivered all the way from Australia just this afternoon. The hemp is quite a bit stiffer than on my Open Road, not a bad thing just different. I also added an Akubra stampede string for a little wind protection.

This old Brock from Canada was probably once a rather glorious hat. Now it’s a rather worn, beaten and eaten old beater… with a whole pile of character From miles and whiles. Perfect for days when you feel about as such.
