My wife is asking for a leather jacket, but I’m stumped...
She wants more “punk” than vintage, and “not like those heavy ones” I have...
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. @tmitchell59 , how old would you say is my Sears? 70's?
With that label I would say 1960s probably early sixties for this one. That's about the transition time from Hercules to Oakbrook label. The Oakbrook label change changed through the years. I don't think there's any difference between the 50 jackets and the 60 jackets other than horsehide and steerhide

Hi completely irrelevant but how do you post pictures?I've got this one coming from Canada.
View attachment 67399 Right now it's stuck between the moon and New York City. Literally hasn't moved from the NYC PO since the 7th. Weather probably a factor there?
If this weather keeps up it probably won't see any wear until next year. Temps are heading up into the 60's at the end of the week. It's totally bizarre and frankly disappointing. This is Chicago, the weather is supposed to be miserable for a good 6 more weeks, then it should be mildly ****ty until June. Then. Just hot.
Use the upload a file option in your post. File size must be under 1MBHi completely irrelevant but how do you post pictures?
Holy... Wow, had no idea it could be that old! 70's would've been my best guess and at the earliest at that. Wanted to make it a beater but can't now. Lol now you gonna tell me it's horsehide too. But either way, leather is so nice on these, though, I noticed that right away. Just amazing.
Really lovel jacket in any case. Thanks a lot for the info, Terry!
Here is a new Police jacket hopefully coming my way.

Another Taylor’s. These leather tag versions are really underrated. Hide is just like colored Bates. Stiff and thick.
The early stuff is phenomenal and totally underrated! Doing a little research I found that Taylor's was an offshoot of Appalachian leather (50's HH civilian styles) so it makes sense the early stuff is as good as it is. The modern stuff doesn't appeal to me. Using corrected grain leathers, etc...just not the same. But I'd be lying if I said my CPD jacket wasn't my favorite jacket right now. Stylistically way outside my comfort zone, not the best fit...but I absolutely adore it.Tony, I'm sure you know that's David Patton, the owner in that early catalog image. I moved to Tullahoma in 1978, not long after Patton bought the Co. I met him through a mutual friend and visited the shop a number of times while jackets were being produced there. Later on I got into a profession where Taylors was often used. I don't know jackets the way you guys do but I like their early stuff.
