In the car right now heading back to Bencraft to get the light gray... Yes I have a problem

.... But hey... I'm not on my way to buy heroin or illegal firearms right?

Funny you should mention that!! :D Just sharing my justification for being a fedora lover yesterday! Can't 'wear' a mind altering substance, for sure! It is a mind altering experience though!! Hence, the sweet addiction!

I truly understand. I went on a Bencraft binge a couple of years ago. I ended up with a $140.00 parking ticket as the tax for my hat addiction.....

After a 3 month wait, 2 more Akubras have arrived. (Sam sent these to me in two days!)

The Stylemaster represents my evolution in hat wearing. Phase one for me was buying junk until I understood what quality hats were. Phase 2 was buying what everyone says is the proper hat to buy (i.e. large crowns with straight sides). But when I picked up the straw Capricorn several months ago, I realized that I liked a slightly tapered crown on my head. It just seemed to look right for me.

So these two additions have the same crown shape essentially as the Capricorn. I'm very happy with these.

Akubra Country Club. This has the 3" brim and will be great for hot days on the beach. It's wonderfully weatherproof.

I'm glad you're liking yours, Moon.

Felt fine when I tried it on at the store but after shaping and wearing it a while I turned on it. perhaps it just needs a little fiddling on my part

I was concerned about what you said about the sweat stitching while at the store ... but I honestly have had no issue with it and find them very comfortable

maybe give her another chance ... :)

These are the sellers pics of a gamble I took on the ebay. What arrived looked a little worse for wear. I gave it a shower and a little shaping and I'm pretty happy with the result.....

According to Brad Bowers' Cavanagh dating page this one would be post '61. It has the famed Cavanagh felted edge, and with the possible exception of my 50s Borsalino, this is the thinnest felt I've ever handled. Cheap t.p. is thicker. I am truly blown away by how light it is. If a 60s model is this nice, I can't imagine what a really old one must feel like.
